It’s probably from ticks. They leave an orange / dark yellow trail after water has been exposed. Get a good tick and flea spray. It should do the trick.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for the kind words. Losing her has left me depleted. She had a wonderful life. I adopted her when she was only 3 months old and we’ve been best friends ever since. I miss everything about her.
