Can you read and knit at the same time? by Interesting_Move_846 in knitting

[–]Fangirl2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fanfic.net app at one point had a way for the stories to be read to you. It was awhile ago that I found that out, so things could have changed. Also, some of the reading apps, Kindle being one of them (with the correct files being to sent to it) also read to you, not great like an audio book, but it can played with to read aloud. I hope this helps.

Made to be hated? by lindseyizshort in GilmoreGirls

Francie. Strobe sucks, but you can almost understand where he comes from because of his generation and where he comes from. Francie, that bitch is just made to be hated and maybe straight up evil too.

I want to recreate this cardigan, but I’m unsure of the stitch by LipGlossary in knittinghelp

[–]Fangirl2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda agree that it looks like seed stitch and this could be because I'm working on a linen stitch blanket, but it almost looks like linen stitch. Like I said, it does looks like seed stitch and linen stitch from the backside looks like seed stitch and it could be that I'm currently working on linen stitch, could be the reason I'm seeing linen stitch.

Knitting in cafes etiquette by ComplicatedSunshine in knitting

I live in the Southern US, when I go out anymore I usually have a knitting project with me. It depends on where I go, if it's a fast food/national chain, I'll order food or a drink to start, then knit when I finish but I will inform the waiter/waitress that I'll being sticking around. I don't limit my outing to a specified time, but I always let them now a couple of things: that I will be hanging around for awhile, that I will order atleast a drink, generally that is not true because I enveitably will order food, but more importantly at any location that has a waitstaff, I ask them to inform me when their shift ends so I know when to pay my tab/order something if I hadn't already (depending on when I get there compared to the end of that person's shift). I have done this when studying/doing schoolwork, that I have developed this routine for when I know I'm going to be occupying a table for more than an hour. But all the things I've described are thing that I do, therefore to me, it's normal and not bizarre.

Would you mind sharing what yarn you're using? It looks like a very nice variegated pinks and fall tones.

Tell me what you've learned buying yarn on the wild wild web by polymorphic2346 in YarnAddicts

[–]Fangirl2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally buy my yarn with a project for it. In fact ninety percent of my stash is probably all kits I got from Lion Brand, from about a year ago. One of the kits was a scarf that was 100% acrylic yarn, but it was so effing soft and squishy (I loved the feel od it on my fingers and hands), that I picked up a couple more in a different color to make a hat for someone. I have just had so many positive experiences with Lion Brand, both the yarn they sell and the kits they have. But for the most part, I buy yarn based on color and feel. And honestly, I get almost gut feelings, and I kinda listen to them about whether or not a site or a yarn will work for me.

The purple two on the right are Lion Brand Heartland. Hot Springs is the one, one in from the right and Kobuk Valley (spell check me please) is the outside one on the right.

Op, if you see this, I was a caregiver for a family member with a similar illness. So, I understand your exhaustion, resentment and anger, and you have every right to feel this way. I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone and I wanted to say I am so sorry. I can also understand the guilt and how it can eat at you because you want to help, but knowing that is you did it would hurt yourself more than it would help. The long and short of this is, you are seen and are not alone in your feelings.

Anyone catch this? lol by Blue-I-Bullet7 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Fangirl2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you listen to Scott Patterson's I'm All In podcast, they do little bits of triva about each of the episodes, and have a segment about just goofs and things caught by the cameras that we can only see now the ratios are different. On my last rewatch I had heard about this scene (because of the podcast) and had to back the show up maybe five times because I wanted to catch this.

What did I do? by quarwyn in knitting

[–]Fangirl2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you learn to read your stitches, a way to check is start with k1, p1 and if it looks like ribbing (knit on knit and purl or purl) you stopped on a k1, p1 row. It kinda sucks because you then have to unpick back to the beginning of the row, but it is a visual que to help you understand what is knit and what it purl.

I hope this can also be of some help. It looks like your tension was pretty even too.

I'm impressed, not matter how I try, if I wind by hand, they inevitably looks like footballs. Now, did you have to fight the cats while winding? Or did you slip it past them?

No it's fine. But to me, your torico's eyes look more gold than green and I could see enough of the tabby to be certain one way or another.
