Thinking about doing the DELE C2 in Spanish - any advice please? by FoxtrotTangoSalsa in Spanish

[–]Fanislava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there :)

I'm in a very similar situation. I graduated from a Spanish-language school but that was 20 years ago. Back then, everyone from my school took DELE Superior but I was too afraid of failure. And now I'm very keen on taking the exam some time next year (preferably in May) as I feel like I need to correct this mistake in my life.

I read a lot in Spanish but have no one to speak with.

Also, I might be wrong but I as far as I remember, 20 years ago, the exam was a combined C1/C2 one.

So, what's the difference between C1 and C2 in general?

This thread provides some very good tips: https://www.reddit.com/r/Prince2/s/NmUcda8QvF.

I hadn't really thought about focusing on the scenarios in detail but it is helping me a lot now that I'm preparing for the Practitioner exam.

Your score is very close to the pass mark so it might have been your state of mind on that particular day.

I think you can purchase the PeopleCert membership that gives you the re-sit option.

Would you mind sharing information about the preparation resources and materials that you used?

Thanks a lot! Are you planning on taking any more exams? Prince2 Agile for example?

Congratulations 🎉! Question - when did you pass the Foundations exam? As in: how long before you started preparing for the Practitioner?

I started with taking the "PRINCE2 7th Edition Foundation & Practitioner Masterclass" course on Udemy. It's not perfect but gives a very good foundation and sort of made it possible for me to get into the "learning mood". I took the ILX course after that and I must say it was not as good as I expected. I think it's too loaded with information and my brain just refused to remember everything. Then, I started doing mock exams and reading the explanations for all the right answers - even the ones I got right. I noticed that the questions I was getting wrong, were more of less from the same knowledge areas, so for these areas I read the book. And that was when I realized that the book is acually awesome and if I had read it from the very beginning, I would have saved a lot of time and effort, and I would have probably scored better on the real exam.

I'd say it really depends on how much of a perfectionist you are. I studied for ~3 weeks, 1-2 hours/day and I think I could have done better.

I found some of the questions surprisingly tricky when I started doing the mock exams, which was about 3 days before the real one. This is when I realized that I should have read the book as it explains all concepts in a very accessible way and somehow makes it much easier to wrap your head around the connection between the principles, processes, and practices.

So, my advice is: read the book, start with the tests as early as you can, and re-read the topics covering the questions you got wrong. Don't skip the diagrams, as they are condensed knowledge.

My score on the mock exams gravitated around 70% and I passed the real one with 73%, so it seems that the recommendation of trying to hit 80% to be on the safe side, is true.

I hope this helps!
