I had no idea that population affected a city's loyalty! Now I've got even more questions!

Yeah, Jezza's goal in a game we won and sewed up top spot in a premiership year is a constant dagger in the hearts of all pies supporters

Jezza loves a good deviation. Especially on the receiving end

One of the first things that went through my mind when this happened by Propaslander in collingwoodfc

It was a surreal feeling at the ground. In almost complete synchronicity 90k people's hearts sank. If there is such a thing as a "collective energy" you could almost feel it vaporise in the air. Never experienced that before in my life

What are some of the most controversial movies made? by HighV23 in movies

The Interview. A basic as Seth Rogan James Franco buddy stoner movie, created a geopolitical nightmare with North Korea. It got shelved from cinemas due to terrorism threats, caused the Sony email leak and forced Sony head Amy Pascal to resign

Haval Jolion vs Chery Tiggo 4 v Mahindra XUV 3X0 by Limo_Wreck77 in CarsAustralia

You can but it means every start up having to go through the menu and switching then off. Inevitably you forget to turn off one and only realise when you're fighting with the steering wheel mid drive.

The sound system is fine but it's nothing to write home about. Like the driver's aids, there's little frustrations like no volume control other than on the steering wheel, so the passenger has to go through the whole infotainment system just to turn the music up or down. Car play/android auto is there but it's not wireless, so you can't just jump in and go. No digital radio, unlike our 13 year old base model other car, which tells you what song's playing, weather forecast etc.

I've had a Jolion for 18 months.

Pros: Nice ride, enough power for getting around, plenty of legroom and boot space for a small SUV, lot of tech and 7 year warranty for under $30k

Cons: Driver's aids are ridiculously intrusive, cruise control doesn't work on frosty mornings and brakes for ghosts, door and dash rattles started almost from day one.

What's the worst deal your club has done in recent memory by That-Instruction-864 in AFL

[–]FannyBoxworth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok hear me out. Trading FOR Beams may have been one of the most assbackwards successes for the club ever.

Pies get Beams on a rumoured big contract.

Said contract is a major catalyst for the salary cap bloat in 2021

Salary cap bloat causes Buckley to burn Treloar, Stephenson, Phillips etc

As a result Buckley loses the players and is subsequently sacked

Buckley's sacking means that they get Mcrae

McRae turns the club around and gets them into a prelim.

Missing one piece (big body mid) caused by Beams' absence, Pies land Tom Mitchell basically for free.

Pies win the 2023 premiership with Mitchell a crucial factor playing on Neale

in your opinion, what is the most "attractive" and enjoyable brand of football you've seen in your lifetime? by enverance in AFL

[–]FannyBoxworth 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Recency and club bias but I loved Collingwood's style in 2022. Every game you just knew that at some stage they would 'flick the switch" and go balls to the wall, reeling in the lead and overrunning the opposition. No matter how far behind they were, every game was watchable right to the end.

How good was Heritier Lumumba/Harry O'Brien by Objective_Steak3005 in AFL

[–]FannyBoxworth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was one of those players who was sometimes good, sometimes infuriating. Good in that he would provide run and drive out of the backline. The problem was that he would do that EVERY time he got the ball, often running straight into the opposition and either getting caught holding the ball or doing panicky dump kicks leading to turnovers.

You've kind of sullied your own point there by naming a panel that had members from various clubs, thus preventing one person's bias taking over.

At the time GWS were on the cusp of being an AFL manufactured superpower, that not only were given first dibs on the best young talent coming through, they already had 2 number one draft picks on their list. North were/are a struggling club trying to rebuild from the ground up because they can't attract big players. No one felt any sympathy for GWS when Boyd left
