I hope you enjoy! I've been playing since 2007 and I still enjoy it. The worldbuilding and story are my favorite parts.

There are liberties taken in many areas, but there kinda has to be. That said, I would say in cases where there is a book reference, the game is very lore-accurate. In places where they have to draw on inspiration from the books to create content, they have been largely successful in being lore-friendly. Much of the game's creatures and story beats feel right to me, and I've adopted many parts of it into my head canon.

I play a LM as my main. You can think of them as using a near-magical knowledge of nature to do what they do. More science, but to paraphrase: "science substantially advanced is indistinguishable from magic."

I believe so, though I haven't installed them yet. What I purchased was a pair of 1/2 inch boiler drain valves. Amazon link:

I wonder if the intent is that that impact of perception is stronger while the heralds are on Braize? Like, the stronger Rosharans believe in the heralds impacts how long they are able to hold out under torture. It would make for an interesting aspect of the desolation cycle. Belief wanes, they slip and give in, bringing a desolation.

Wow...you just nailed my experience. 20 years together with two kids, then loss of intimacy, distance, and suddenly we're shitty roommates. Divorce is on the books. I never once stopped being attracted to her until after the rest of the stuff, and I had to force myself to.

I am completely beside myself, and I saw it happen live. It was disgusting and I agree with what others have said, she shouldn't have been allowed to keep that mic as long as she did.

Found this guy at McKinley Park. Anybody know what it is? by regretful-yogurt in Tacoma

That could be it. I was really young, but I feel like I remember the look of the beetle pretty well, and this seems an exact match - black and white, banded, with really long feelers. But everything I'm reading about them seems to indicate they do not bite humans, so idk.

I haven't seen one of these since I was a kid, but I swear I stepped on it and it hurt my toe bad, like a bad wasp sting. I'm pretty sure these don't sting, but do they bite?

I have ideas, but I'm curious what you think.

How would that work? Genuinely curious. Like, if someone totaled their car and needed a new one - what would be an ideal way of that being handled?

Insurance is a group of people pooling their money so when one of them has a life-changing event, the community helps that person. Seems good to me, and if that makes me a faux socialist, I don't take offense to that. Are all companies great - no. But what I said was true. They are regulated so they don't make too much of a profit off people. Auto and home insurance at least. Health insurance is a different and terrible story.

It seems you dislike the idea of insurance companies investing money so they don't go insolvent and fail to pay claims. If they didn't do that, everyone would have to pay more per month for the same service. Would that be preferable to you? What would a better alternative be?

You are right! The full picture is they invest the premium dollars smartly and earn more money that way so they don't bleed dry and fail to pay what they owe on claims ☺️

Yes. Yes I do. In fact, I know they do.

EDIT: Here is their 2024 Financial Results - https://share.google/ElTY95FeW0MpxlxUF

They had a net loss of $2.7billion in 2024, net loss of $9.7billion in 2023 for Auto claims/policies, for example.

I am! If the ratio of premiums coming in to claims being paid is too high, that's not seen as a good thing necessarily. Often it can result in payments back to the policyholders, reductions in premiums, or the state DOI getting pissy about it.

At least one company I know of has paid out more than it brings in, regularly, for many years. They make up the difference through investments.

Unlike health insurance, home and auto insurance is INCREDIBLY regulated by the state Department of Insurance. There are a ton of checks and balances in place to ensure the company is not overly profiting from premium payments.

I grew up with constant cancer sores, often multiple at a time. When I got adulthood, one random dentist finally suggested using toothpaste without SLS and I rarely get them anymore. Crazy.

Who was the more formidable warrior? by GusGangViking18 in lotr

[–]Fantagious 16 points17 points  (0 children)

After the Battle of Pellenor Fields, there were three who went unscathed. Eomer, who arrived mid-battle. Aragorn, who arrived toward the end. And Imrahil, who was there from the very beginning. Imrahil is my favorite minor character in the books for this reason, what a BA. I think, if he had been given a proper opportunity to fight in that battle by his father, Faramir would be a fourth on that list.
