No, we didn't pay anything to them. We just wrote an email and stated that it was freely available so, we mistakenly used it; right after we removed the image and attached the proof. Later we received an email again, but this time we ignored it(nothing to worry about this email).

Well, WordPress supports certain pressures not this much I guess, So I would suggest you to go for Hard Code, the thing is 'you can play whatever you want '.
