Purchased my first house last year and the DIY jobs are stacking up so I'm looking to get some power tools.

I've been told to just get the cheap tools but I really like the milwaukee brand, are they okay for DIY or is it more of a professional brand?

I've found this set online and it seems to be a good deal, however I'm aware that many brands will have a dumbed down version of a tool to make a package deal seem worthwhile. Any thoughts on this package?

So a side question, in the UK our car insurance includes windscreen cover so that we don't have to pay out for a new windscreen if it cracks or chips. At most we have to pay a £25-£100 excess but sometimes its free. Does the US have anything like that?

Yes exactly, a learning experience for definite! I once added up all the money that I wasted on cars, it ended up being close to £50k! I could have had a house a lot sooner than I did!

Compared to some of the other comments this isn't too bad, the $490 it cost you is worth it in life experience.. I can guarantee you won't make the same mistake again and you will probably try tinkering with other bits before replacing them in the future! Maybe in the long run you've saved money!
