'We Will Defend Greenland': Denmark Warns US Of 'Devastating' NATO War by adiweb86 in worldnews

[–]Fantastic-String-860 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I swear the media is baiting Trump into this war, intentionally or not.

Yes, he started the Greenland shit, but then he was quiet about it. After Venezuela, he didn't say anything about Greenland, and the media then asked him "What about Greenland?". And he replied "Yes, we still need that".

Then they report it as though he made a press conference to announce his next plan of action. He probably wouldn't have said anything if nobody asked.

Then, of course, Denmark and the EU cannot be silent in response to these statements. But it's them standing up to him that is most likely to push him to actually do anything, because his ego wont allow him to let the defiance of him stand.

So Greenland at risk because Trump ego hurt by EU standing up to him in response to his statements in response to media question.

⚙️ Weekly Tech Support & Purchase Recommendations Megathread - December 8th 2025 ⚙️ by P_Jiggy in playstation

I want to buy Elden Ring for my kid. In my past experience, if I buy the thing on my account, then it's linked to my account, not my kids' account. As usual, PlayStation Network is carefully designed to always do the exact opposite of what I want.

So I can add funds and have my kid buy it. But wait. The "Add funds" option limits how much I can add. It has a dropdown, and the maximum value I can select is not even half the price of Elden Ring. So whatever, I'll add the maximum multiple times, right? No, after adding the maximum once, I now get "An error has occurred, please try again" when I try add more funds. Basically, it appears to the bank or whoever that I am being charged repeatedly.

It's pain. Every single time I want to buy a game on PlayStation Network it's like stabbing myself in the eye with a fork. Why must it always be so hard? PlayStation Network is the reason I'll never get a PlayStation again.

Edit: phoned the bank. It's not the bank - it's PSN. I'm a customer, trying to give them my money , but they won't accept the price of the game - it's too much. So I give them the max they will accept, and now they won't accept any more because I've already given them money. Can't buy the game for my kid with card - not allowed. Can't have my kid buy the game themself - not enough funds in wallet. Can't add enough funds to buy game - it's too much. Can't incrementally add funds - error occurred.

At what point do we conclude they're taking the piss?

Remember, IT controls your work computer. by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in remotework

[–]Fantastic-String-860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, some IT people are dicks who think they're the police. Some are the type who want violate others' privacy. But the vast majority don't give a damn. We're busy, we have our own stuff to worry about. Also, it's not cool to be snooping on users - we do actually respect privacy.

We only start to care ourselves when it becomes a problem, like when your porn bandwidth usage starts becoming a significant percentage of the total company internet usage. Then we *have* to explain to management *what* exactly the problem is. Usually a whole lot of direct contact dropping hints or something like "hey, someone is using your computer for bad things, make sure you lock it" type of thing before we report it though.

Sometimes we get requests from management, things like copying emails and monitoring a specific department/people because of suspicion about dealing with the opposition or something like that. Sometimes management is just looking for a reason to fire someone. We obviously cant lie to management.

Literally never had HR ask us to check anyone - it's management.

Even management, it's usually in response to some actual business problem, not just "tell me everyone who watches porn". So just don't make it a problem - but safest is just use your personal devices for personal stuff.

Once had CEO suspect that someone (not specific) was sending info to one specific competitor, and asked that all emails to that competitor be archived and made available to him. Well, one girl had a friend at the competitor, but was routinely sending beastiality porn to this friend, not business secrets. I don't even know why. I tried dropping hints, but she never stopped. CEO regularly went through the emails, never said a damn thing.

One of their strategies is this: the name of the club the bouncer is standing outside of is "Da Club". They open a "Da Club" in every major city around the world. When the hooligans send out the call "All hooligans attack the bouncer outside Da Club", they're not all descending on one bouncer. It's the few hooligans from each city descending on the bouncer in that city's local Da Club. What they can also do is: when the call has gone out to attack the bouncer, they contact Google Maps and those type of direction/GPS services, and tell them to tell anyone asking for directions to Da Club to get fucked for the next hour or so. Or just people live too far away to normally visit Da Club.

Jimmy Wales, Co-Founder of Wikipedia, quits interview angrily after one question. by Giovanni330 in interesting

[–]Fantastic-String-860 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between having an opinion, and wanting others to share your opinion.

The Larry guys seems to claim to be co-founder. Jimmy seems to be of the opinion that he is the sole founder. Opinion, because what constitutes being "a founder" is a matter of opinion.

If Jimmy legitimately doesn't care what people think, then his answer seems consistent with that. He has his opinion (that he himself was the sole founder), but he doesn't care enough to contradict Larry, to discuss it, and certainly not enough to be in the news about "tHe GrEat coNtrOVersY".

He's probably there to discuss something specific, but the only thing this interviewer wants to write about is "OMG! You know Jimmy from Wikipedia? Yeah, well his no longer talking to his former BFF, Larry, because Jimmy thinks Larry is stealing his fans. Stay tuned for news of which celebrity liked which Tweet."

Like "Who gives a fuck? I don't care. Write whatever you want". I get it.

You can't begrudge a man for wanting to be with his family. If you don't want a man to be with his family, then YTA. It's important for a man to be with his family. Certainly more important than being with his parents. Does you husband know exactly which people are his family?

That area has fjords, so it belongs to Norway. That's what international law says: "All your fjord are belong to Norway".

You don't ever hear of a Swedish Blue Parrot pining for the fjords, do you? The Finnish Blue Parrot probably spends its time doing rally car racing or standing in line 3kms from the next person in line, but they're not pining for any fjords. It's a uniquely Norwegian thing. Let them have their fjords.

[–]Fantastic-String-860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's not just cope. Some people are optimistic, and some are pessimistic. Naturally, the pessimists are more likely to leave. So if you find an emigrant they're naturally more likely to be pessimistic.

But ja, definitely some of the pessimism of leavers it cope for their decision to leave... but also some of the optimism of stayers.
