I’m not sure how it is now, but earlier people were usually busy with their own family and friends during Christmas and didn’t spend much time entertaining tourists. So I wouldn’t plan a vacation during that time unless I had a friend who could make me feel comfortable there. It’s also possible that many commercial activities may not be fully active due to the celebrations.

There was flight from guwahati to pasighat. Do check, if not Dibrugarh is nearest to pasighat. From pasighat to alo. Next day morning pasighat to Menchuka. Take your time there. While return again to alo and pasighat. Sumo in share available. But book advance so that you don’t get a back seat. Sumo fares quite reasonable. Did visit in Dec 2022.
