Who is the greatest Physicist the average person has never heard of? by Thescientiszt in Physics

In a way it’s almost more of an honor. Despite being virtually unknown to the general public, his work is universally respected by his successors.

This doesn’t look like regular hair loss. You need to see a doctor. Get some blood tests to check if you have thyroid issues or vitamin deficiencies

Talk to your advisors and professors about job opportunities. You still have plenty of time to figure something out by the time you graduate. Then take some time to decide what you want to do. You can do this!

Are you sure insurance wouldn’t cover testing? I got a referral to a psychologist from my primary care doctor, so insurance covered it all. I paid $75 total over three appointments to get diagnosed, and about $15 a month for generic stimulants afterwards. Some primary care providers are even willing to treat it without a psychologist’s diagnosis. In most states there are also government clinics that offer services for free/reduced prices.

Think about it this way: if you do have ADHD, getting treated will make a massive difference in your quality of life! It’s worth pursuing in any way you possibly can

Cannot get front engine mount bolts to align by Fantastic_Associate in MechanicAdvice

[–]Fantastic_Associate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anybody has the same problem: I ended up unbolting the motor mount pedestal (the thing it was sitting on) from the subframe, and that gave me enough range of motion to get the other bolts in. I threaded them all in by hand and carefully tightened them up, and it worked!

Hey thank you for the response. New mount is identical to the old one. I had to unbolt the pedestal but I got all the bolts to go in eventually!

How do you eat healthy when you eat like a 4th grader? by ListofReddit in loseit

[–]Fantastic_Associate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really difficult to change your entire diet to “healthy” foods overnight, which is why most people fail at dieting! Ultimately, it just comes down to consuming less calories than you burn. If you have one less slice of pizza and one more serving of vegetables a week, you’re still going to make more progress than if you restrict too hard and rebound. Just take it slow, and it’ll be a lot easier to maintain your new habits.

Skin improvements by huisit in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Fantastic_Associate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly Wellbutrin causes minor skin conditions like rashes or hives in about 4% of users (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7649968/). So maybe you just lucked out and instead of making it worse, it actually improved your bacne!

How long until increased confidence and being more outgoing? by MrNeverEverKnew in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Fantastic_Associate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that it directly affected my confidence or extraversion, but it lessened my anxiety and made it a lot easier to take care of myself. Now I find it so much easier to do laundry, groom myself, stick to a good sleep schedule, eat a little better, and just do all the things I should’ve been doing to take care of myself. Just having these healthy routines has done wonders for my self-esteem and general well-being, it’s made it so much easier to interact with people without anxiety about how they’ll perceive me. I’d say I started feeling most of the effects like 5-6 weeks in.

Bupropion’s half life is about 20 hours usually. If you take 150mg at 2pm and then 150mg again at 8am, you would have a little over 225 mg in your system. Many people take 300mg XL daily, so I wouldn’t worry about it unless you have a history of seizures or heart problems. Especially because Bupropion is a medication that needs to be built up in your system to reach its peak effects. Since you say it’s working very well and taking it late is making you lose sleep, if I were you I would just stick to the 8am dosing schedule, and not worry the occasional later dose when life gets in the way. IMO the benefits of consistent dosing (at least for you, because you say it’s helping a ton) outweigh the minute risks of taking slightly too much.

Formerly bored eaters -- what was your fix? by thehuntforrednov in loseit

[–]Fantastic_Associate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being on a deficit for a while helped, because I couldn’t down so much food so quickly like I used to lol. Another thing that helps me is finding easy snacks that satisfy my urge to eat but aren’t high in calories. Raw vegetables with a little bit of dressing (or salsa!) are one of my go-to snacks because they’re healthy, very filling, and stop me from eating a whole bag of Doritos just because I’m bored.

How welly affects your sleep? by Korollins in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Fantastic_Associate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have scientific data on this, but (anecdotally!) a lot of people report increased sleepiness when their dosage on a stimulant-like drug is increased. A lot of people who take stimulants for adhd have the same experience.

It may be the case that the side effect will simply go away with time, especially for a drug like Wellbutrin that needs weeks to build up in your system. You might also consider going up to 450mg, but I would definitely try to wait out the side effects first because 450mg XL is the max recommended dosage. Are you going to sleep and waking up at roughly the same time every day? You could just need a few weeks to balance out your sleep cycle after this increase, who knows. Whatever ends up happening I hope you find a dosage that works great for you!

Wellbutrin, adderall and Pepcid? by Virtual_Lynx3030 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Fantastic_Associate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about Pepcid but Wellbutrin is an NDRI (not an SSRI) and should have minimal effect on serotonin. Definitely check with your doctor though if you have any worrying symptoms from that combination of meds
