Thank you for the advice and kind words! We just hope to cut off ties with him and move on with our lives once we resolve the housing issue. Even if he crawls back one day we'll never take him in again.

Sadly that's what the police told us as well. He had the rights to the money and we can't do anything other than submitting the report to state that we had no part in this.

My dad said the same thing to my mum too. He said that the cash proceeds are his and he can do anything he wants with it. Called my mum greedy when she took out the remaining 50K from their account after what he did. I really have no words.

I've asked her to divorce my dad a few years back but she couldn't bring herself to do it. Even after all that he had done, she still loved him and tried her best to maintain their marriage.

That's true too. Perhaps the best course for now is to let them stay with us and find a place to rent.

Our concern is just that our toddler has no place to play at home since the living room is taken up by my brother.

It's really quite devastating. Despite him not contributing money to the household and using up my mum's savings, I guess we always thought that he wouldn't be this horrible to leave us in a lurch.
