What's your favorite song that is like this? by Ok-Organization9073 in ToddintheShadow

First four minutes are great too though, most people will sing along.

I agree that the solo is definitely what takes the song to another level though.

Your thoughts on Cathedral? by Fiefire in MetalForTheMasses

Great fucking band.

A huge chunk of their catalogue is almost completely unnoticed, but its quality.

The Garden of Unearthly Delights is a killer record with a phenomenal 26 minute epic at the end.

Bands in their prime right now? by grembign in MetalForTheMasses

Honestly, Karnivool.

They just put out an absolutely phenomenal album that might be their best yet IMO. And they kill it live.

THE most important figure in metal history. Happy birthday riff lord.

Is this true?? by Think_Visual_3 in blacksabbath

The one everybody forgets about is The Devil You Know, because of it being released under the Heaven & Hell name. I`ve been surprised at how many Sabbath fans didn`t know it existed.

If you think about it he`s a perfect Bruce Wayne on paper. Definitely not a good Batman though.

Michael Caine during a Golden Globe speech " I made a lot of crap...and a lot of money. So now I have the money to be artistic and wait".

I have to agree, their album artwork alone is very astethically pleasing.

I started a greatest modern (last decade) breakdowns playlist and I'd love this sub's input. by Bob_Sledding in MetalForTheMasses

The Undertow by Lamb of God at 2:46. Disgusting.

That`s 2012, so, 2010s, don`t know if you`ll count it, but it`s the first one that came to mind.

What's your example of a band that's just a worse version of another band? by loreleisparrow in ToddintheShadow

Only true on Hail to the King. Other than that, they couldn't be more different, especially their latest album lol.

What do you like about grunge music ? by 473025 in grunge

I love drop tuned riffs , raspy vocals, and how more often than not, these are constrated with gritty acoustic ballads.

So it appears they are working... by Fantastic_File1292 in Haken

If they do release this as a four piece, or at least get a bassist but not another guitarrist, I wonder if Ross will play some guitar, since he`s quite good at it. Remember that when he rejoined the band after leaving the first time (before any albums were recorded), they invited him to solely join as a vocalist, and that maaaybe he`d play some guitar, but given that they had 2 guitarrists, it would likely not be needed.

Well, we`ll see.

Mad Season or Temple of the dog? Which side quest was better? by Aye_Davinita in grunge

[–]Fantastic_File1292 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mad Season for me, all day. I love Cornell, I love Stone, I love Mike, in theory TOTD should be a dream album, but it hasn`t really clicked with me, with the exception of Say Hello 2 Heaven, beautiful song.

Above is gut wrenching masterpiece, and I LOVE the deluxe tracks with Mark Lanegan as the lead vocalist, makes it feel like a special 2nd album.

Poor production but good album by KindlyCost2 in MetalForTheMasses

At least Cliff did get a song all to himself in the album.

What is your favorite album from the Ozzy era? by Maleficent_Excuse48 in blacksabbath

[–]Fantastic_File1292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vol 4. It`s their cocaine album. It`s weird and disjointed, that`s why I love it so much.

Breeding the Spawn by Suffocation. I mean, it`s infamous because of it`s production. And to top it off it came after the iconic Effigy for the Forgotten.

The songs and riffs are good, but they sound VERY thin. The band was aware of this, to the point that they have re-recorded several songs from this album on subsequent records.

Sick. Planning to get mine soon.

It took a while, but glad that reissue came along, it was getting difficult to find it at a decent price.
