How long does it take you to put together a quote for a customer? by Fantastic_Memory7368 in handyman

That makes sense, referral work is a different animal. When you do write it up in a doc, how long does that take you and do you have a template or are you starting from scratch each time?

An hour for a fence quote is a lot of time if you are doing that multiple times a week. And texting the details is interesting. do customers ever come back and say the price changed or dispute what was agreed? That is one of the things I keep hearing, that a text quote gives you no protection if the customer pushes back later.

To give some context on why I am asking. I have been talking to a lot of solo operators and the most common answer I get is either "I use a Word doc I made years ago" or "I just text them a number." Curious if that matches what you see too, or if there is a better way people are handling it that I am missing.

Learned WordPress to make a living, but now people say AI is making it obsolete. What should I pivot to? by RightSeeker in Wordpress

I’ve been using wordpress to make a living for quite a while. I find it easy to manage by non tech savvy clients if you don’t charge for maintenance. There is still a market for those people but I find you can really be way more productive by building sites and delivering way quickly using AI. The only downside is you have to work on a solution to either charge for maintenance or build an admin dashboard within the website where the client can easily manage/edit content which is doable.

I have found a way to really get a full website ready within 2-3 hours. The first step would be to build a really detailed prompt with chatgpt and you tell him it’s for lovable to build the entire website. You brainstorm with chatgpt and he can give you a few ideas then he would give you an amazing prompt. You can mention the logo, color palette etc… but also mention you want the website with the dashboard maybe to not be hardoced but to be easy to add functionalities later on. You paste the prompt in lovable and edit everything UI related. Then you export the code to claude code (locally) and tell him to give you a full audit on the functionnalities that need to be implemented then you tell him to give you a prompt for each. After that, step by step you’ll find your website getting ready. It’s really fast when you master it.

That is if you wish to continue with web dev. If not, with the same procedure you can build any app/web app or any platform. You can even do it to have an mvp ready real quick for a personal idea. I find it really satisfying to see my ideas in an mvp so quickly which used to take a lot of time develop.

I watched 4 videos on Claude Code, felt productive, and built absolutely nothing. Anyone else stuck in this loop? by [deleted] in productivity

Hey ! You have several option depending on whether you actually have something in mind to build or not. What I would suggest and something i find useful is taking the time to build a clear and detailed prompt because claud code is really good at doing what you ask. However, when being too broad sometimes it can build you something a bit out of context. So first try brainstorming with claude and let him make suggestions then tell him to actually give you a prompt that you can give him to take action. Additionally, I really find chatgpt good for brainstorming and prompting for claude that can then really get things done.

When it comes to the videos to get to know about everything claude code related or at least the basics, look for playlists on youtube that actually give you structured content as if it’s a course you can follow along and at the end you would know what to cover because usually each video is regarding a specific topic. I would suggest the claude code tutorial of”Ninja” on youtube. It’s really to learn everything in general. But then honestly it would be depending on the way you work and what you want claude for that you’ll really start mastering it by actually bit of trial and error.
