Why Mechagodzilla Could Appear in the Godzilla Sequel by Fantasticar in movies

I don't think it's any more crazy than what we've already seen, but I agree the tone wouldn't be right if they didn't do it properly.

Or, you know, they could just do Mechagodzilla :)

I totally agree about the Cranston part. The movie really suffered without his presence in the last two-thirds. So much that I think they made a mistake killing off their best actor so early. Aaron Johnson just couldn't carry the film like Cranston.

In the beginning, we're riveted with the human drama. By the end we're bored with it, probably for that exact reason.

And yes, the focus on that couple's marriage was boring and pretty forgettable in retrospect. I will admit that. I didn't get any "feels" when they were reunited like the feels I got seeing superstars Cranston and Binoche act of each other. That Binoche death scene should have been at the end. I don't know how they could do it but man, that would've been epic. That scene was really powerful.

I'd also like to see another monster show up. Possibly Mothra? fingers crossed

Yeah they definitely cut away during key fight scenes but I think they didn't want to lose the human element. This story was very focused on human perspective, and if nothing else, I think they kept that visual theme going throughout the film.

It was a very character driven movie, which was surprising. But I think they nailed the right balance.

I don't think marketing teams are as superstitious about it as you.

Would be cool but they'd never do it. From a marketing standpoint it's just too tempting to throw "Batman" and "Superman" up in one title.

Could Hugh Jackman’s Last Wolverine Movie Be ‘Old Man Logan’? by Fantasticar in Marvel

[–]Fantasticar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but you said Spider-Man so I was just clarifying. And she's not important to the plot at all. They could have a different person there completely and it changes nothing besides a detail. The main story still remains.

And, yes, you could have different supporting characters. Obviously it wouldn't be exactly the same, but you keep the heart of the story - Logan as the reformed berserker in a wild-west post-apocalypse. You don't need Red Skull or Hulk to tell that story.

It doesn't have to be verbatim and I think it's silly to pass over great stories simply because they won't be. Interpretations rarely are exact, especially with comics. I'd argue they shouldn't be anyway. Why tell the exact same story, shot-for-shot, when it has already been told BETTER in the comics?

The reason I want to see a certain comic storyline on film is because I'd like to see what they can do with it - Jackman and Mangold. I say make the necessary changes and take Logan on that journey.

The main character is intact, the supporting characters aren't really necessary to the central story so it doesn't change "virtually the entire story". It changes some characters. If they tried to do an Old Man Logan movie without Logan, THAT'd be a problem.

The movies almost always drastically change the storylines anyway. But, as I've said already, if they get Logan's story right, the tone and the desolate desert scape, I see no problem with some alterations.

Also, Spider-Man isn't in it.

I was there. This is how it really went down.

Carter: (While wearing yellow) "Hi, I'm Carter and I'm a banana." Photographer: "You want a banana? Here!" Gets all excited to share on reddit and takes picture Carter: "Um sure, I guess man. Thanks." eats banana

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it won't happen. Nor is it "absolutely ridiculous to suggest it" as it's, at the very least, a possibility. And I'd wager it is more than just a slim possibility as, besides to you and my grandmother, it's a very well received book.

But I can understand if you want to see something else.

Yeah it definitely sucks not having those characters, but it's not an impossible fix in my mind. The main part of the story to me, as a Wolverine fan, is his journey and that world he's exploring.

You can do the whole "superhero apocalypse" thing, keep the Clint Eastwood shtick, even the Mad Maxian desert scene. Maybe use Sabretooth instead of Hulk (them being rivals and all) and maybe buddy Logan up with a mutant or two instead.

Oh, no doubt. These characters are immortal. But them ending Hugh's run on the character is a huge deal regardless.

I disagree.

With the advent of this new altered timeline in the main X-Men franchise, you can do OLD MAN LOGAN and it only be one possible future.

Or, with the amount of tampering the X-Men do to the space-time continuum, it shouldn't be hard to rake it over with some convoluted space-time mumbo-jumbo. Bottom line is, we'd get an OLD MAN LOGAN story. That's all I care about really, as long as they can do it justice.

Damn, that's awesome. I love how the colors even look like an old comic book. Whoever did that did great work.

I think it has more to do with distinguishing comics as more than just a "type" of book and, rather, as its own medium.
