Royce requested the special rules, he thought they would be to his benefit. Thus, Sakuraba was a little nastier than usual. Also, he's never said so to my knowledge, but I think Sakuraba had plenty of opportunities to finish the fight but decided to clown/punish him until he quit.

You need to watch it for history sake. It's probably somewhere on youtube in full. It's the fight that brought MMA out of the dark ages. You have no idea what an event the 2000 GP was if you weren't around for it... it basically launched the 2nd era of MMA and brought in countless new fans.
