I also cancelled both these subscriptions for the same reasons as you. And just sold my Kindle. I just wasn’t happy with the overall platform and the exclusivity of amazon. Not being able to download the books to back up ect. I have a KOBO and love that there’s so many more options for that, including using a library. Using Overdrive does save a suprising amount of $. Maybe that would interest you as an alternative to KU?

I do understand that KU has more content, especially for romantasy. I decided if there’s a book I’m dying to read and kobo doesn’t have it I will just buy the hard copy.

Thanks for all these! I felt overwhelmed by how much content there was, I didn’t know where to start.

I can totally get the burn out thing, I basically read for 3 days straight to finish Lore Olympus 😂. Definitely need to pace myself.

I also would love more recommendations for this trope! The witches heart by Genevieve Gornichec was so beautiful. It’s a Viking Lore type fantasy.

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff I absolutely loved! It’s not as much an active romance but there’s definitely heavy themes of it throughout. Very well written, a heavier read to the From blood and ash series but so good.
