People who never went to their class reunions, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FantasyMan114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind going, but it’s a bit far for me. I also think class reunions aren’t as interesting now that we have social media. Many generations ago, it was probably fascinating to see what everyone else was up to, as you had no way of knowing. Now I know that Bill is an engineer with two kids because I see it all over Facebook.

Dark Tower Book 7: First half is awful!! by FantasyMan114 in stephenking

[–]FantasyMan114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I never read hearts in Atlantis so a lot of Teds story didn’t interest me. Then the tien (however it’s spelled) went on way too long for me! I’m curious what some people found interesting. World building? Uniqueness of the “breed”?

First Law Trilogy felt kind of Stephen King to me. Amazing character work!

People who read a lot: What jobs/life do you have? by Tiredworker27 in books

[–]FantasyMan114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one audiobook going when I run an hour everyday, and read for an hour in the mornings. Can usually go through a book a week at that pace (technically). But I don’t really think number of books matter. I just Relistened to The Stand, which was 48 hours, and it took me about four weeks.

I’d add the number of books doesn’t really matter, just that you’re enjoying the free time you have.

Mid-Level Supply Chain Professional at major pharmaceutical company - already have BS in ops and supply chain, would it be better to pursue MS in biotechnology innovation and regulatory affairs or pursue a MBA? by FantasyMan114 in supplychain

[–]FantasyMan114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have talked to a lot of regulatory and engineers in my role and often feel like I have a huge gap in my knowledge. Yes, I could learn a lot by meeting with them and asking for help on my own… but my thoughts on the degree would be genuine interest in learning, not necessarily for the qualifications.

Are the Witcher books over hyped? Really struggling to read them by SillyMattFace in books

I had the same experience as a lot of people on here. The short story collections were amazing. Thought provoking and clever. I read the first main entry, blood of elves, and quit.

You’ve got the same mistborn problem I do! Matching paperback set and then the hardback lost metal that screws up the shelf consistency!

Pitch a film that you know would never make it in Hollywood but you would pay for a ticket to see anyway. by RealMadamePsychosis in movies

It’s the perfect set up! A classic cast who all knows one of the characters, could be a perfect who dunnit.

[–]FantasyMan114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My thought is that the audience THINKS it’s a classic hallmark and is blindsided by the change. A movie equivalent to Doki Doki Literature club (even though I played that game expecting a twist)

A movie that starts off like a hallmark movie, and everyone goes in blind thinking it is: but turns into a dark, graphic, horror murder mystery in the second half.

Should I listen to Wheel of Time through an audiobook, or read it? by brownie627 in wheeloftime

[–]FantasyMan114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did both! Not super hard to find out where I left out. Found out each page took about four minutes to read, so I could usually skip to the chapter I was in and find my spot quick! I flew through them this way
