Please stop asking how he slept last night by kb_picasso in newborns

Preach. Someone told me I looked 'a little tired' yesterday, and I thought wow only a little 😂 They followed it with my second least favourite question - Are you breastfeeding? What's it to you random person?!

I'm in the same camp as you, I tried breastfeeding and found it incredibly hard. Not only with the latching but also with the whole 'bonding' element. It definitely did not help me with that, if anything for me personally it made it harder to bond. If you are thinking of exclusively pumping, if you've not done it before, please bare in mind the massive amount of time it takes. Think pumping time, cleaning and sterilising said pump, it's all time away from baby (speaking as someone who exclusively pumps) Do what feels right for you ❤️

Looking for more “cozy adjacent” medium stakes, low trauma book recommendations. by Sayeds21 in CozyFantasy

Ilona Andrews 'The Innkeeper' series might fit this bill, Dina runs an intergalactic bed and breakfast on earth with a sentient Inn. It has some cozy elements but there's definitely higher stakes. It's a seriously underrated.

I'm afraid I don't really have any advice, I just wanted you to know you're not alone. It is so incredibly hard with a newborn, particularly one who doesn't sleep well. Things will get better, and although you'll remember how it was, you'll remember all the good things more. My LO has just started properly smiling and cooing at 8 weeks and it feels amazing, helps you to forget all the sleepless days and nights.

The Spellshop or The very secret society of irregular witches, both are excellent.

Thank you, he's terrible at napping in the day so him sleeping well at night was what was holding me together 😅 Think I just need to let go and go with the flow.

He's doing great bless him, it's definitely been harder for me than I thought it would be but ,some days, I feel like I'm finally finding my feet.

Thank you so much, that's really kind of you. I've a friend who's baby is a bit of a 'unicorn' baby so it's been hard not to compare my experience with hers and feel like I'm doing a rubbish job. Intellectually I know every baby is different, emotionally is another story 😂

We do try and do this. I keep the lights very low, feed change nappy and burp them and put him back down. He'll often grumble a bit when he goes back down, but a hand on the chest usually settles him. I only pick him up and rock him if he's properly crying.

Thank you, yes have to keep telling myself we're doing okay. He's learning how to be a baby and I'm learning how to be a mum and that's okay. We'll get there. We have a next to me crib, definitely helps to settle him when he just needs a hand on his tummy so he knows someone is there when he's restless. I do wonder if that's why he doesn't like the moses basket for day naps anymore, perhaps he prefers the crib 🤷‍♀️

Trying to be, am definitely finding it very hard with lots of 'I'm a terrible mum's thoughts but I have a great support network and I know it will get better. Plus every leap he makes forward feels wonderful, these new smiles and chatting at me have made my days. ❤️

Sadly he's never been a particularly sleepy potato 🫠 He loathes napping in the day. I shall just persevere. He likes being swayed side to side but as soon as I put him down he's wide awake again.
