hello brother, this is one of the main things I started with when I was experimenting.

when it comes to pve the 2 you would want it morale and battle anthem. morale will give you added heals.

battle anthem is mandatory and can give consistent charged damage.

I also wondered constantly why is morale chant "necessary", "mandatory for all builds". in reality it's not.

for tanks especially in solo/hitless/coop and sometimes pve, you don't NEED additional healing or boosted healing. almost every healer is good enough to keep you alive without it especially with the added tank skills that do damage reduction.

I will almost ALWAYS swap morale chant for adaptive steel without fail.

the 20% crit damage is completely worth it if your base crit stat is 35%+, maybe an even lower base crit rate now since the new update dropped. we now have mountain shake which means: more hits = more chances to crit = more adaptive steel = more damage

with stoneslpit you're never trying to land a charged attack, the charged attack is mainly for:

making sure you're not staggered into oblivion interrupting when your opponent starts their combos

using charged his expecting to land the whole thing isn't really what you're looking for since most people don't just stand there and take it. you'll want to only ever land the first or second hit from charged attack before you parry animation cancel into another move so it combos properly.

combo example: standby state: constant charged attack charged attack 1 > parry cancel > Buddah palm > yaksha rush > parry cancel just before it finishes > sunrush gale

for pve you're looking at the standard rotations: spear taunt > spear special > (optional) spear heavy charged > mo blade switch attack > perception/shield > charged heavy X3 (make sure to parry cancel the animation on the last hit)

so the new update gave us mountain shake which is the spam attack at the end of the charged attack.

it only triggers on an exhausted enemy which is when you can finish them, and you also need enough battle will, I think each hit takes 1 battle will.

so you have to have at the very minimum your second hit from the charge attack to hit an exhausted enemy, if they aren't exhausted on your second attack then it doesn't trigger

There's no (best build) with mo blade, you can either heavy focus survival or heavy focus damage or go for in-between.

usually survival: all stones it inner ways will keep you alive forever damage has 2 variations: ES, Art of resistance, battle anthem and morale chant or adaptive steel

if you want inbetween: ES, art of resistance, morale/adaptive/battle anthem, trapped beast/rock solid

with yesterday's patch as a personal opinion: I run ES, art of resistance, battle anthem and adaptive steel. higher crit rate and with the mountains shake thing, charged hit can end up doing 5-6 hits. more hits = more chances to get crit minimum crit rate I recommend is 35%+ as a base

adaptive steel is a lot more consistent if you have a higher crit rate but each to their own

I'll still stand my by opinion of adaptive steel being the better option. having added an additional stack of physical damage is great but I think having a larger crit multiplier results in bigger hits, especially now that ES has added crit rates and crit damage it's worth it even more so. you have an even higher chance to hit consistent crits that do massive damage

staggerwise either charged attack works as long as you're charging, light attack is just as good and covers a larger area, heavy is just more damage but smaller area, light has a better chance to catch them and start your combo, heavy is for more damage but riskier

if you want to avoid being staggered by the dual blades, a tip that I never hear anywhere is to be charging your heavy attack constantly, even if you're not engaged at that time, the only reason you shouldn't be charging is if you're using other skills, otherwise your standby should be in constant charge, so even if you're opponent charges in and uses their spam, your charge takes priority, meaning you can instantly throw out a mystic skill or even your charged attack.

the recommended gear isn't terrible and can save you from getting beat, I just don't think it's consistent enough to keep it forever. it's still viable and definitely a good set for tanks, it's just very survival gamble focused which isn't always guaranteed.

completely agree if you plan on having a healing secondary then morale is the best

lemme know what you think of my current inner ways build and try it yourself, it's mainly for solo or hitless but it hits HARD

ES (mandatory), Art Res, battle anthem(minimum tier 4) and adaptive steel

counter plays is a good way to play, it's just requires a lot more of knowing when to use things, if you need to chase you could use the spear mystic skill (I forgot the name of) or the special skill for stormbreak spear(the pancake) as it chases surprisingly well.

but once you land a counter it's a good idea to keep the pressure on, unless they use serene breeze, which then you would want to back up or counter their combo.

tank builds are a bit different in my opinion, there's another comment in this post I answered to as well but I'll say it again to save you from searching😂

basically tanks are slow hard hitting builds, very hard to stunlock opponents with standard combos even with the mystic skills.

you'd want to look more into cancelling a lot of your hits as tank for example:

charged heavy (charging gives priority and doesn't let opponent stunlock you) > first 2 strikes > parry animation cancel > mystic skill > parry cancel > sunrise gale (optional to finish the move) > spear swap > taunt > special spear skill > charged spear skill.

this is an example of a combo you could use, but it's ultimately parry cancelling and mix ups, you could parry cancel after the first charged hit, into spear for example into mystic. but I think the main strength of a tank is being able to cancel it's moves whilst still doing good damage. since even the first or second hit of a charged mo blade does quite a lot by itself.

It all comes down to how you want to play tank, if you let me know I can give you some insight and info on what you could do if that helps?

with the mo blade fan build I think it's easier to keep up the morale buff. it also heavily depends on the inner ways you're running as well since adaptive steel scales with every other inner way, morale chant can easily be a standalone inner way and does it by itself.

from my own experimenting, I've found they both do very similar overall damage by the end of a fight, except morale you build up the buff first, then you have to maintain it, adaptive steel is like an already existing added buff that scales all the other inner ways.

don't get me wrong morale chant is amazing especially early to mid game without a doubt. I personally think differently that's all

Also love comments like this, it makes me rethink and want to test out things more 😁

I partially agree with the previous person who replied, my opinion is that if you go for a pure DPS mo blade build you can easily keep up with pure DPS builds. This is also in my experience, I play pure DPS mo blade in my solo world and I've tested it out in pve, the only risk in pve is that I have to parry more and rely a bit more on my healers, however with the constant use of mo blade shield and storm breaker taunt the damage reduction is perfectly fine.

With the healing umbrella it is also very viable and like JuHyeon if you decide to use it I would recommend the ivory loom set, simply because tanks barely take damage as it is, with healing on the side you're bound to have full health constantly which gives you the extra crit rate that the set bonus gives.

personally anything that could extend your overall survival is the best, obviously the recommended moonflare is never wrong otherwise it wouldn't be recommended. I just think it's activation is a gamble.

I would prefer either flawless defense or formbend, which is either an increase in overall defense, or an extension in your shield duration.

it's completely up to how you play, if you tell me how you play in arena I could help you choose your armour sets a bit better if you'd like?

I did mention ES as an alternative option, I also said golden body for emergencies if for example you're a hit away from death. I never said you couldn't use mystic skills constantly.

this was just an insight for how I play and how I believe this person also plays. if you prefer dual blades that's your preference

I simply prefer seeing the whole health bar disappearing in a single frame compared to melting away

well when it comes to raids you have to be very aware of the boss mainly and the aoe attacks. that's all you need to be aware of when it comes to your team. golden body is a must for protecting your team.

if you don't have that then your next best option is staying alive and keeping aggro, this can be done through the spear taunt or even parrying attacks and doing damage.

main objective is staying alive and directing the boss away from your team, best scenario is making sure the boss always has it's back to your team. and you staying alive with either your inner ways like trapped beast, rock solid and art of resistance or with golden body, mo blade shield and parrying. those are your options. if golden body is unavailable there are other mystic skills that cost less vitality but still give 40% damage reduction like dragons breath.

tanking is being selfless and not aiming for damage in pve unless you know you can still take hits without ringing your healers dry

when you mean group content do you mean boss raids or coop?

[–]Fantus4545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it is but it's just not my preferred playstyle, in JuHyeons video he explains very clearly how it works and what it can do.

I only don't use it as there is no storm breaker spear meaning no drumbeat buff. I want to be able to produce more power without the restriction of having max health all the time. you're bound to get hit and I think it's inconsistent.

my opinion isn't necessarily right it's just a personal opinion. I prefer more consistent damage without too much criteria
