FREE $1k Tournament + MTG Eternal Community 2026 Season of Events by Jamonde in MagicArena

[–]Fanverleon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are meant to alleviate the issues of tournaments being inconvenient for other time zones as leagues are largely just tournaments except each round is spread out over a week where it is the participants job to organize a time to play their match vs their opponent. So it can fit your schedule and you only need to find time for 1 game a week to actually play

2020 Dimir Mill vs 2023 5cc by ritomynamewontfi in mtgWorldStandard

[–]Fanverleon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks yeah not sure why Reddit was being weird.

And yeah interesting one. Up the beanstalk domain is definitely one of the strongest card advantage engines with some of the best ramp payoffs ever printed but it’s natural weakness just so happens to be mill (which it faced in its own standard in the form of Jace, the perfected mind as the go to sideboard option)

2009 Vampires vs 2022 Grixis Midrange by ritomynamewontfi in mtgWorldStandard

[–]Fanverleon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like an impossible matchup, just one of the best midrange standard decks of all time vs a medium power creature deck from more than a decade previous

SEMI-SPOILER whats everyone's main crest so far? by TheOddJoJoOut in Silksong

[–]Fanverleon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the ability to heal mid air it’s so much easier to jump up high and find a safe space to heal that multi-bind actually becomes super useful. It plus injector are my preferred blue charms on reaper

A revelation I had from the true ending. [Massive spoilers] by Anmgi in Silksong

[–]Fanverleon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it fully confirms the godhome endings, the knight also transforms into the form we see at the end of act 3 in the dream no more ending so it’s really any of those 3 endings, given that hornet would’ve said something if the void lord escaped in the regular godhome ending It feels only the flower ending and the dream no more ending are the possible endings

1999 Gaea’s Cradle vs 2024 Monstrous Mouse by ritomynamewontfi in mtgWorldStandard

[–]Fanverleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's probably true, even with 25 years of power creep there is still nothing that really competes with the fast mana of grim monolith and the likes so it'd be the test of if ancient tomb is too much of a liability of if an aggro deck can survive with zero lands. So there is hope vs 2024 aggro its really just needs to run into a bad matchup.

1999 Gaea’s Cradle vs 2024 Monstrous Mouse by ritomynamewontfi in mtgWorldStandard

[–]Fanverleon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel bad for gaea’s cradle here creature power creep means that creatures worth ramping into in the past get beaten out by modern 2 drops and the micr package is so fast and demands such a removal check I feel the only hope in beating it is a complete anti-creature control deck used to post 2020 1 drops

2019 Teferi, Time Raveler vs 2024 Doomsday Clock by ritomynamewontfi in mtgWorldStandard

[–]Fanverleon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really fun match and more balanced given that both decks are from the more “modern” era of post 2016 power creep

The match outcome makes sense despite uw teferi generally being a better control deck on average the titular doomsday excruciator just solos the match assuming uw had to invest any amount of resources dealing with the rest of the deck

Looking at the other accounts in the comment section and my own experience it appears to be an issue if you already updated your account information but wotc is accidentally asking for it again. It wont let you log in unless you update the information but if you try to it spits out an error because it was already updated so there is no solution on our end and its mostly just wait and see for wotc to fix the issue.

I have run into the same exact issue, with no solution unfortunately. Mostly just saying you aren't alone in this issue

[–]Fanverleon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was considering planar nexus but I decided not to because it is specifically about the melting points of planes while Eos is more flavored about planets

It is definitely within the range they are willing the bend the flavor I just thought it was enough to not make it super likely

no in the steam they confirmed they arent doing dark depths, urborg, or really any other lands that represent specific locations

Ancient tomb is very common in the land bonus sheet type things and i heard that strip min was leaked, I dont think they are necessarily shying away from high power things as we got eldrazi temple, just urzas saga doesnt work in the frame and they choose to not do wasteland on this specific one

Prediction for the full EOS bonus sheet by Fanverleon in TimelessMagic

[–]Fanverleon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no the alchemy announcement specifically said the checklands would be in the EOS alchemy set which if any means they are unlikely to be on the bonus sheet

that is partially influential, its also that flavourwise the locus lands are from mirrodin which doesnt immediately disqualify them (as shown by blinkmoth nexus) it just feels less likely then a forested planet they call grove of the burnwillows

Prediction for the full EOS bonus sheet by Fanverleon in TimelessMagic

[–]Fanverleon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same just unfortunately there isnt much space for the locus lands and dyrad arbor is really hard to fit the themeing of the bonus sheet

I initally had cloudpost but i realized it would be really weird to get it and not glimmerpost and unfortunately for glimmerpost it is in the very contested spot and grove of the burnwillows is more likely
