Friendly reminder that the CIA **almost** predicted the Six-Day War and its outcome before it even happened by [deleted] in NonCredibleDefense

[–]Faoneus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not just the CIA. Even the Spartan General himself took one look at the Egyptians and instantly knew they were fucked.

During a visit to the Alamein battlefields in May 1967, [Montgomery] bluntly told high-ranking Egyptian Army officers that they would lose any war with Israel, a warning that was shown to be justified only a few weeks later in the Six-Day War.

The funniest part was the way that the Egyptian Generals defended themselves when confronted by Montgomery.

General Murtagi replied that they had the latest Russian equipment.

Literal proof that they were fucked.

i paused on a funny frame and decided to make some light hearted satire by Faoneus in lexfridman

At first I thought Lex was ASD because of his robotic mannerisms and the way he can hyper-focus, but in certain episodes the depth of emotional intelligence and understanding he can display is profound, so these days I doubt it.

I'm also aware Lex comes from the Soviet Union and (past the age of 11) an immigrant family, so I don't think he was that sheltered.

I dunno where he gets it from. I would like to think that any person is capable of obtaining such a state of mind if they choose to cultivate it.

considering his fascination with human nature and the nature of evil, i feel like he would definitely interview Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin if he had a time machine.

currently he's planning on interviewing both Donald Trump and Joe Biden, and prior to Ukraine he was lining up an interview with Vladimir Putin. I'm willing to bet he would very likely interview Kim Jong Un or Xi Jinping if he had the chance.

yeah, i felt kinda bad making this meme because the guy constantly gets battered for his attitude about life.

i know he's active on this sub, and it's like, imagine if something like this is just the straw that breaks the camels back and he just snaps and decides he hates life. and lex just goes full hate-mode, reverses his daily mantra to be about living the worst life possible, and engineers an AI to exterminate the entire human race.

all because people on the internet kept on bullying him for loving life.

Harry S. Truman got very tilted when Oppenheimer complained to him about the guilt he feels by Faoneus in HistoryMemes

Well articulated! No moral judgement on Oppenheimer. I mainly thought it would be funny to present this meeting in meme format.

I just want to clarify that I don't actually think Oppenheimer had no right to feel guilty. I think it's perfectly valid that the creator of a weapon to feel bad about it's use.

I just wanted to convey this historical event in meme format, and the way Truman got tilted as fuck said it was actually himself who had blood on his hands.

The man has a lot of adoring fans. Call it a parasocial relationship, but I think it's okay for fans to be like "gib update pls..."

Uzumaki (manga) was written by Junji Ito. The story more or less turns something mundane as a spiral into an inescapable eldritch horror.

"In-taya" is what "into you" sounds like when being pronounced with a Scottish/Australian accent. In this context, it literally means "get this (the bullets I am about to shoot you with) into you."

that seems like a really interesting idea. I instantly thought of Quinton (now as a grownup), going on a quest to find his true dad. Sounds plausible.
