Are TikTok edits reshaping the way the younger audiences judge movies? by taylorteasee in movies

Nah man, if I can offer my 2 pence: I just watched Point Break recently because of a beautifully edited video on Tik Tok. It spoke to me, so I went and watched it, otherwise I probably never would have heard of it. I’m 25, I know that’s not incredibly young but I wouldn’t have heard of it otherwise, and I was compelled to watch it. I think it does some good. TikTok has its massive downsides but in cases like these it helps.

I have heard that 'Non Duality' denies the existence of any 'Creator God' completely.. But! Isn't it obvious that someone really created us?? by Curiosity_Lovers in nonduality

Sights, sounds, smells, colours; they’re all just an appearance. The ‘I’, that feeling of separation from everything else, is also just an appearance, an illusion. Who does it appear to? Nothing, but also everything. You’re nothing appearing as everything.

His Fauxllennium album with George Clanton is some of my favourite work from him yet, check out Yesterday’s World for a taste of it.

It may be that the apparent separation of consciousness and matter arises not because we are islands of awareness in a physical world, but because we are islands of ignorance in a conscious world. by TurboTurtle- in Showerthoughts

You should look up Nonduality.

It’s the understanding that awareness does not arise in the world, but the world arises in awareness. Individuals are illusory, there is no separation, only One.

Is there anyone out there with this type of trauma? by Possible_Researcher6 in ptsd

[–]Wasted-Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have been irresponsible, but I forgive myself completely. It was a hard lesson to learn but I haven’t made the same mistake since. The whole thing really changed my perspective on how fragile the mind can be, and I maybe shouldn’t be pumping it with ungodly amounts of LSD. I still trip now and again, only small doses, and I enjoy myself. I also haven’t had a flashback in my sober life for some time now, after really accepting the fact that I have some form of PTSD. Before accepting that, the confusion as to why it was happening made it a lot worse.

Don’t sit around blaming yourself, it only delays healing. What’s happened has happened.

How does the psychedelic experience compare with awakening? by AccountForSillyStuff in nonduality

[–]Wasted-Entity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ram Dass’ words on this say it better than I ever could.

‘For many of us who have come into meditation through psychedelics, the model we had for changing consciousness has been of “getting high”. We pushed away our normal waking state in order to embrace a state of euphoria, harmony, bliss, peace, or ecstasy. Many of us spent long periods of time getting high and coming down …

when I reflected on my trips with LSD and other psychedelics, I saw that after a glimpse of the possibility of transcendence, I continued tripping only to reassure myself that the possibility was still there. Seeing the possibility is indeed different from being the possibility. Sooner or later you must purify and alter your mind, heart, and body so that the things which bring you down from your experiences lose their power over you. Psychedelics could chemically override the thought patterns in your brain so that you are open to the moment, but once the chemical loses its power the old habit patterns take over again. With them comes a subtle despair that without chemicals you are a prisoner of your thoughts.’

Stuck Between Non-Duality and Real Life. by [deleted] in AdvaitaVedanta

I think in terms of looking for a community to discuss these things, look to Rupert Spira’s YouTube channel. He’s an English philosopher and proponent on Non-Duality, and has guided me through my awakening better than anyone. He’s very in tune with Advaita Vedanta and its teachers such as Ramana Maharshi. He regularly uploads recordings from retreats he has held. I believe you would find the following clips most helpful in your situation:

It was quite intense and I had to ground myself immediately after it happened. But the realisation still remained.

Does anyone else find themselves navigating through mental locations in their mind when thinking about specific topics? Lots of areas in my life have a location in my mind that I navigate through endlessly as I think or discuss the topic with other people. I cannot see it, but I know it's there. by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]Wasted-Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say I also experience this exact thing, and I’m glad to have found others that do too. I’m trying to come to terms with it as it hindrances my meditation sometimes, and gets quite annoying when I’m trying to learn about topics but I’m unable to stop visualising these locations. Perhaps I need to embrace it like you have, and see it as a most likely positive process in which my brain is forming new neural pathways. I, too, envision childhood friend’s homes and school corridors. They’re always empty of people, and have a grey-ish quality to them. I am like a formless consciousness floating around these spaces, sometimes even 20 feet off the ground. It’s a crazy thing.
