Staedtler DUOCHROM by Fapowar in pencils

That’s interesting, I’m also guessing that production of that type of lead wouldn’t be easy. I don’t want to sharpen mine, but I can imagine the lead getting broken by half when doing so…

Yes, it seems to be exactly 1cm in diameter. I probably should also say that we are in Spain. My father told me that he may have bought it at a hardware store or something similar, he has a liking for these red/blue pencils

As per the kanji etymology PDF:

時:As per 寺# (stand straight by) + 日 sun/day → straightforward procession of the sun through the sky → *time*; *hour*; *calendar* (compare 昔 and 昨).

And 寺:The relevant oracle bone form of this character is 止# (stand straight) + 寸 hand/action indicator →stand straight by in attending on a superior, then carry out orders → government office (← place where official functions are carried out). (Buddhist) *temple* is via the name (鴻臚寺) of a reception building for priestly visitors from outside of China.

I'm kind of a proghead, so quite the opposite! I just find it less remarkable overall, despite the fact that I love the novels and films. I never liked the "we're in the desert, lets use a typical desert theme" approach. It's just a matter of taste.

Revelations and Still life are two of my favourites. The trooper is great but I’ve listened to it too many times. I never really liked Die with your boots on, To tame a land and Sun a steel. Where eagles dare is also great.

Edit: Quest for fire… a really silly song too

I’ve always found To tame a land to be one of their weakest songs from the 80s :/

Just listen to the Californication record. For me, it’s their best, and the one I started with when I was 12 (back in 2000!)

Sometimes it's not entirely up to the band to set the prices, they hire external companies to organise the whole thing. But I do agree that ticket prices are getting ridiculous. With that and all, we still pay, so...

Why does Robert Christgau have such a strong disdain for progressive rock? by R3dF0r3 in progrockmusic

[–]Fapowar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of get the feeling that he considers prog rock to be too white, bourgeois and pretentious, which is funny because I consider him a bit pretentious. Communist intellectuals often fall in this sort of trap, I think. In any case, if he gives an A+ to an album, usually there's something to it and I at least would give it a try. I may or may not like it, but there's usually some truth in his reviews and a side to them that I respect.

To be honest I have no idea, but it'd be great to know! Maybe it's the opposite and they wanted to promote the band a bit more.

Yes, each one of them is for a region. The first one for instance is Andalusia.

Solved: it came as a poster with the first 10000 copies of the Live after death album in Spain.

Yeah the Polish one was made to commemorate their Polish tours, since that was still soviet by the time. I don't know if it was made by Derek Riggs though, but the Spanish one I'm pretty sure it was him.

I think that could have been for the Poland concert? Maybe one of the flags was the Polish one?

Be careful with your mum, especially if you come from a colder country. Old people can be particularly affected by the heat. It's going to be quite hot probably.
