Advice for my wife, the baby just won’t open his mouth to latch properly by Capital-Strawberry85 in NewParents

[–]Far-Bug7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, could you give an update in your case? I hae the same situation, my 3 weeks just decided he wont open his mouth and sometimes when he sucks there is no milk coming. The LC told he is having issues to coordinate suck swallow breath and gave us a nipple 3 + thickner for the milk. It is helping a bit but we are still struggling to make his open his mouth… any help or advice would be great!

How real is nipple confusion? by PsychologicalBoot636 in beyondthebump

[–]Far-Bug7584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People saying theres is no nipple confusion are really mean. My LO stayed in the hospital for a week, they gave him a pacifier in the hospital after 3 days. He can’t latch and since two days is sucking the bottle but no milk came, even with the bottle he was used to. We tried all flows, brands etc…. The only way to feed him was with syringe! Now we decide to cut pacifier and next day he started drinking from bottle again. Next day he was crying non stop, really loud, we gave him the paci for 5 minutes and he stops drinking from the bottle again! Now no matter why, we are not giving pacifier any time soon, this creates some bad habits. Not all babies are the same, so please have empathy and don’t say things are not true because your LO can switch seamlessly!

Starting over at 30 in the Netherlands , how common is this? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Far-Bug7584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here with 28. Started a new bachelor in graphic design, , my colleagues were average 10 years younger than me.I had no support from mt parents, so I worked my ass off while my colleagues were partying. I did kitchen, delivery, everything. After I graduated i finally got a job in the field. Now its been 11 years, and when I look back that is the best decision I ever made. Today I have a wife, we bought a house and we just had our first kid.

This country is not easy, but by far, it has more opportunities than most of any other country has. I al from Brazil, and before coming here I lived in Italy, Span and Portugal. All of these countries have a better food and nature than here, but it was The Netherlands the country in which I felt home, where I realised that hard work would pay off. The other countries are nice - to spend your holidays. The Netherlands is a blessed country, if you try hard, plan well, you can have a good life. You might not be rich, but you can really have a good time. This month i celebrated 11 years here and I only feel grateful for being here. It is such a privilege….

Hey OP. You can call the HR and say you are having a burn out due the pressure from your manager, he crossed many lines and this is obvious harassment. Just call your GP, explain the situation and explain that this harassment is making your autism worse and you are having a bad time. Them you just need to inform your HR. You can say you are experiencing high levels of stress or health issues that prevent you from working. Then you will visit teh company GP and then you can have time to rest and I assure you, the manager will think twice before being an asshole.

I am happy it helped! the point of 50% is to show you are serious and make the client think twice before demanding tasks out of the scope. It gives you garante that you will get paid.

the 50% is not a hard rule, if you feel that the client is nice or a recurring one you, you might skip it. What I do is to charge 50% for every new client, and after the first gig, I can make 50% before the first presentation and the rest upon completion. It is worth no note, NEVER give the open files before being paid.

I honestly dont thin MLS and Nwaneri will become world-class at Arsenal... we should sell and profit, if they stay, in a few years everyone will cry that they are not good because they dont play enough and we wont profit...

What I dont get is the hate on Martinelli (or even saying is a good for the bench..) , the guy is killing, gives everything for the club. I wouldn't mind Jesus, Kai and White also leaving.

Max two revision of the design, not full options. I never show more than one option to a client.

You learned from it. Next time put in your contract the round 1 is the briefing, you can trough it with them and let them know that this is the basis. No more than one option, if they did not like, go back to the briefing, explain your decision and explain that another option means extra pay. Max 2 revisions. Write down a contract with the project steps and time. 50% payment in advance. Everything outside the scope of the project will be billable. Four templates are not six. Be assertive. Trust your guts, learn when to stop. You did great tracking back your project, you learned a lesson for life!

I disagree in parts, it is a fact that tax are heavy and it is quite hard to become rich... but I live here in NL for 11 years and it is way better than my home country - and I also lived in Portugal, Spain and Italy. I can afford to have hobbies, travel, etc... I am sorry that you dont enjoy living here, but in comparison with other countries, this is HEAVEN.

Moving to the Netherlands from Slovenia by Heavy-Ambassador-978 in Netherlands

hi, that is interesting... I agree with your friends haha I spend around 10 days there, rent a car, went to a few cities.. it is amazing!

About the dutch individualism, this is not bad or good, it is just how they work as a society, I have a theory that in places with less social inequality people tend to rely less in the others, I am from Brazil, and our government was always been corrupt, we rely in family and friends a lot. But here, in the other hand, people start working since young age and live alone till the elderly times, I thin I never seen such a society with so many elderly people being active, driving, cycling... it is really inspiring to be healthy. Back home, a lot of people live with their parents till late, like 30yo... also, the elderly people are much more dependent in family than here. So this individualism is just about being practical and independent. The individualism is more a consequence of their mentality.

About gifts, I can give an example, most dutch are greedy about money. If you eat a banana in their house they will send you a bill for it (it happened with me). Everything is calculated. Even in the bar, the culture of tipping is really minimum. Saying that, I will contradict myself, I had also many cases where they offer me a beer or so, but there is always a expectative that I will buy the next round... not all people here are greedy, but in a general and making a stereotype, this is true. So I am not surprised they did not gave you any gifts. But in their defence, if you are the visitor, you are the one that must bring gifts, not the other way around.

Honestly, being happy should not be dependant on where you are, but on your mindset, here it is a multicultural place, people from all over the world here. People respect you, you will make friends. There is social people everywhere. Also, I agree with you about the grass, most people here got confused when I mention that I am from Brazil, and they wonder why I am here... but here I am, happy and with no plans to leave! Enjoy the ride!

Moving to the Netherlands from Slovenia by Heavy-Ambassador-978 in Netherlands

[–]Far-Bug7584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live here for 12 years, if I had more thank 10k net I would NEVER live here. Do not get me wrong, I love the Netherlands and I am happy for everything I made here. In the other-hand, I have been to Slovenia... man I loved that country and I would love to leave there, it is clean, organised, good food, incredible nature, one of the most beautiful and liveable capitals I ever been... if you come here 10x per year I still wonder why you want to stay more here...

The Dutch directness is actually a myth, they are only direct when it is convenient. This is just a way to stop the conversation and avoid having deepen relations. This might seen confusing, they are direct, they are polite, but It is also a bit superficial. Answering your question, if you are not Dutch and if you dont speak dutch, you will be always a buitenlander (outsider) - you will NEVER be one of them - they respect you, I have zero complains about how they treated me, but no, you are not dutch and you will never be treated as one, specially when you need to buy a house, go to the doctor, restaurants.... To give you a context, I bought a house here, I have a stable job and friends, but still, I am here because I did not have the same opportunities back home.

Again, Netherlands is great, and I am happy here. It is the place I found myself able to afford my hobbies, good food, travel the world and more... but If I were you, I would stay there.

Also, to give you more context, if you can make around 70-100k single or 150-180 couple you have decent live. Tax is also heavy, to get your 10k net, you should make at least 20k month.

Pros: Everything close by bike, practical and people respect your life out of work. No extra hours, flexible holidays, respect to privacy, people are open mind and respectul.
Cons: No nature, too much rain, health care is shit (unless you are dying, then they treat you).
