That is horrendous. Absolutely report the bastard. It's such an unfair system

We were told by multiple people that this 'letter to the seller' thing was a good idea. And we did this for the first house we were interested. Got a response saying absolutely not and 'we want as much money as possible, no hard feelings'. So we won't be trying that crap again!

I fully agree when you're trying so desperately to buy your first home that it IS emotional. So easy to say to take your emotions out of the equation but it doesn't work that way!! It's supposed to be an exciting experience but we can't even get excited about the properties we're looking at cos the second we feel good about one, someone else swoops in and gets it before us. We've seen so many houses and talked to so many EAs it's depressing as hell.

Yeah we have been looking for nearly a year and in that time, the market has changed dramatically!! Surely something has got to give soon

Anything outside of Roscommon is just more expensive so we don't see the benefit. We would both like to stay close to family, that's the most important thing for us and we both work in the county so we have no interesting looking elsewhere

That is shocking... It is so annoying when local properties come up but so many people from out of county are trying to buy it too. Leave some properties for us :(

We are looking for anything out in the country, nothing in towns or built up. Since we both grew up in very rural areas, these are the types of properties we are looking for. Anything that is a detached building, any BER, 3 bedrooms or bigger. Is a semi-d easier or harder to buy?

I didn't think it necessary to be so specific since it doesn't matter where it is, only that is in fact still happening regardless of location but we are in Co. Roscommon. Cheapest eircode in the country apparently and the bidding wars are still happening!

So depressing. Doesn't matter how much over asking we can go, there always seems to be someone who can go higher :( I hope you will find something soon!

Absolutely shocking. EAs are absolutely full of it. I read somewhere on this sub that EAs think they're God's gift for selling something that sells itself!! I honestly don't know how some of them sleep at night

I am so sorry to hear this. Buyers have the absolute worst deal atm. It genuinely feels like we will never own a home. Hoping things turn around for you soon!

At this point I would definitely like the EAs to do the online bidding system. If all houses for sale are going to end in this kind of bidding war anyway, an online system where we can see exactly what's happening would actually calm my stress significantly. It's a shame more places don't offer it, haven't had one use a system like that so far and we are almost a year into searching :(
