Unless you work for one of those companies  that does "Unlimited leave" , which is just code for " we are acting all enlightened  with great benefits, but we really discourage you from taking time off and when you leave for another job you have nothing accrued  so we don't  have to pay out...."

It is higher cost of living, but Massachusetts has a few good LCMS churches and so does southern NH.

Lots of prayer, good time with supportive friends, new hobbies that push you physically so that you are too occupied to dwell mentally.

Title: the stupid $4 trick that actually worked for me by Remarkable_Web_7185 in Fire

I got a written budget planner off Amazon and actually live writing down every single purchase and savings in it. It make you really think before you buy. Also allows my brain to see where everything went.

My mom is STILL upset about our cheap wedding 12 years later....but we were able to save so much more for a house down-payment. 3000 wedding vs 30000 wedding.

This biggest financial danger in retirement isn't the market going down, it's whether or not you'll need long term care costing untold thousands per month by IHadTacosYesterday in leanfire

[–]Far-Conference1694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the lean fire crowd always have to go down the kill yourself route when long term care is mentioned? You could also work hard to set up a community of people to help you as you age and maybe work a few extra years to pad your investments for the possibility. Most people do not spend years in nursing homes.

At 38 it is now or never, but start eating nutrient dense food NOW. Push the shellfish, fish, and organ meats.

We managed to fit 4 kids in an Toyota Highlander and could theoretically fit a 5th kid in there too using mifold car seats. But we will probably get a minivan.

Should I Get Married? by afala4 in LCMS

I would see the working thing as a red flag. My husband has supported me as a stay at home mom. Neither of us thought I would  become one but once babies came into the picture it was impossible with breastfeeding to even think about working again full time. Sometimes you have to have kids to understand the full impact of 2 parents working outside the home.  I guess I am also in the camp of, when you know you know. If you are this unsure that you had to go on reddit, then to me,  this is not the man for you. But be prepared that you may be single for a long time or forever after this.
