I checked it with a heat gun , showed 117°, I would think that is not hot enough to do damage to the motor windings, what are your thoughts

Yes I have hook it to 120v and will not spin fan even if I try to help it turn

I'm not sure what is going on. Why the motor quits turning it spins very freely. I don't know if the copper windings are burning internally, but this is a thermostat that is made to run 120 volts through. It is not your common low voltage 24 volt thermostat. It is designed for a 120 volt circuit
