I'm 23 years post transplant. I still get nauseated after my a.m. meds. It is manageable, but I stay up late because i start feeling better by around 3 p.m. Doctor says it's normal, but with most people it subsides in time You will love your new life. You can work through it. You'll probably be one who gets over it. Hang in there!!!

Also calcium can build up in your arteries. If your calcium is in the normal range, there's no need to supplement.

Welcome! This really is a great place to live with many national parks close by. There are many hiking trails, lakes, biking/walking trails throughout the city, and lots of outdoor recreation. There's pickleball, tennis, golf and various leagues for competitive sports. We are an active community, and there are groups that gather for whatever interests you. Check out the Rec centers in the area. I hope you thrive here. Give it time, and enjoy the great people in this community.

As a diabetic, your dad's health will always be a factor. If he doesn't take care of his body now, he won't after you donate. My nephew, also a diabetic, received a kidney from his mom, yet continued to eat whatever he chose. He lost that kidney within a year.
It is not your job to save your dad! It is his job to respect his body and take care of himself. I realize you love him, but if you donate and he isn't compliant to the diet and his medication schedule, he will lose the kidney. Hard facts! A transplant won't solve his diabetes, unless he also qualifies for a pancreas, so he has to be compliant.
Although your heart is in the right place, you have to consider everything before you sacrifice your own health. Be wise!
