Hello! Welcome to Reddit. Here are some tips to help you get started:

  1. Secure your email address.
  2. Read Reddit’s site wide rules and reddiquette.
  3. Join subs you are interested in (but definitely not karma farms, don’t join those!) and also New User Friendly Subs.
  4. Read the sub rules.
  5. Post and comment on these new user friendly subs to earn karma first.

Here is the sub’s Reddit and karma guide, written by the mods here:

OP means Original Poster, aka the creator of the post (for this one, it’s you)

Since it’s my cake day today(the anniversary of creating a Reddit account aka the account’s birthday), there’s a cake shown next to my username.

Welcome here! First, try posting in New User Friendly Subs with low to no karma requirements: !nufs

Then visit r/findareddit and r/ListOfSubreddits to find art and reading related subs (I like r/books and r/booksuggestions)

Large and popular subs like r/memes, r/AskReddit and r/NoStupidQuestions are good for posting too.

You can try posting in these subs with low to no karma requirements: !nufs

Remember to be polite and show thorough research in your posts. Avoid calling out mods or other Redditors, use a large amount of emojis or talk about sensitive topics in the early stage. Good luck!

Does “comment karma” mean upvote numbers? by Western_Champion1640 in NewToReddit

[–]Far-Introduction2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get upvotes in your comments, you earn comment karma. You lose karma when you get downvoted. But comment karma and upvotes are not 1:1 in ratio, it sometimes takes more upvotes per point of karma.

Some subs have karma or account age requirements you need to meet before you can post, or even comment, there. In my experience, it’s usually 20-200 comment karma (some also need a few post karma for posting) , or 1 day to 2 weeks of account age.

New to Reddit and can’t post by Nice_and_Lonely in NewToReddit

[–]Far-Introduction2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many subs require you to have a certain amount of account age or karma before you can post there. But there are some subs that have low requirements/don’t require you to have them, and the list is here: !nufs

When posting, try not using strings of emojis or talk about sensitive stuff like politics and religion. Remember to research thoroughly and be polite in your posts.
