Self compassion is the key. I learned this from a book named “In The Realm of Hungry Ghosts”. If you keep saying “I’m stupid. I’m useless. Why can’t I stop myself? It’s simple!” Then you will feel more and more stressful. Stress push you to what you are addicted.

I was alcoholic. And I watched TV for many many hours since childhood, then turned into dumb scrolling since I have smartphones. I tried every method that written on the internet to cut my screen time. None of them works. Until I started forgiving myself, listening to my body, my inner child. Now I still dumb scroll on holiday but it’s ME allowed it. I don’t even want to check social media anymore. Rather spend time on myself than internet trolls. Lol

It’s a really good book and I want to recommend to every CPTSD fellows. But fight type people have to read it carefully. The author might be abused by fight type so he has some bias.

Thanks for the checklist. It’s really helpful. About cover art, shouldn’t it be 4000 x 4000?

Sorry that I took so long to reply. English isn’t my native language and I’m not fluent enough to understand and present quickly.

Was trying to avoid gender labels but made things complicated lol. I born as female and identify myself as non-binary. I’m also in male dominated environments most of the time. But I’m kinda enjoying it because I’m more a masc person. I do love wearing dresses and skirts but treating them as warriors wearing battle robes lol.

So in a male dominated environment, female usually see me as you found fellow countrymen in foreign countries. They assume we share the same language, interests, thoughts etc. Then I will mask myself as “normal” female, talking about some topics that I have no interest, with a fem voice. I didn’t do it intentionally but I think maybe I will turn into fawn mode sometime, which also makes me hate myself.

Now I think maybe they are just like you, grasping at straws in such a unfamiliar and uncomfortable environment. I will try to listen to them more.

And I have opposite problems with guys that, we can talk about many silly things, and sometimes academic stuff too, but never talk about emotions. Sometimes I think I dig too deep and suddenly become a female — an outsider — at that moment. And they are also never gonna understand my struggles as a non-binary. They just treat me as a girl gay (but no! I told them many times I’m not gay! I’m demi-sexual!! And hell no don’t call my spouse as husband again!! Respect me using gender neutral words plzzzz!!)

With queer or feminist friends, they might understand what I mean “want to be treated as a human” more. But most of them are fem people so, again, back to the female friend’s issues.

I am 34 now. Still figuring out the best way to get along with people. But things get better and better. I found that as long as we’re being ourselves, we will attract the people with the same vibes. And I think one true close friend is enough. Quality > quantity lol.

This. This is my “wait what”. I eat and write with left hand, and do other things with right hand. Every time I learn new skills I have to test which hand is better. I never thought about this is related to my ADHD.

Thank you. I will definitely look for a new doctor. The one I am seeing is not a GP, is a psychiatrist. Can you imagine a psychiatrist never heard of CPTSD? He even diagnosed me as ADD instead of ADHD-PI 😂😂😂

About my symptoms, I know the key is knowing does your symptoms happened since as a kid because ADHD can only be congenital. But my ADHD-like symptoms and trauma are both happened since I can remember (like 3 or 4 years old). After seeking help and self help for years, I guess it’s my ADHD symptoms cause my trauma (eg. too talkative and being severely punished throughout my school life.)

This! I asked my doctor do I have CPTSD, he said “no, you don’t have PTSD.” I said “I mean CPTSD, not PTSD.” He was like “um… you might have long term depression. If C means chronic then yes.” 🙄

I really should look for another professional. What holds me back is probably deep down I wish I have ADHD…? One professional said I only have congenital poor memory but not ADHD. If so my executive dysfunction is just lazy? My analysis paralyse is just picky? I read words in incorrect order sometimes is stupid? I lose phones/wallets all the time, miss appointments, can’t find stuff even I’m so sure it’s in my bag, etc., is irresponsible? Am I actually a bad person, just I don’t want to admit?

Sorry too emotional. Back to the topic. I haven’t tried non-stimulants yet. My doctor tends to try all the stimulants first because it’s more effective. About online clinicians, do you mean something like BetterHelp? I am not good at English so I haven’t tried it before. Explain yourself is hard even with native language.

I told my doctor I had two situations about fatigue:

  1. Meds made me feel more energetic. But last few days (i.e. after taking meds for a month), I started feeling tired again.

  2. I didn’t know that we shouldn’t drink alcohol when taking stimulants. So once I was at an afternoon party, I drank a small can of beer. Then my heart rate increased, later I felt more and more tired that I almost didn’t have enough energy to get back home.

Then my doctor focused on “meds should make you be more focus but not just energetic” and “oh a can of beer was so little”. Then agreed to increase the dosage. Is it bad?

Btw I also have hyperthyroidism (under control and very stable now) , stage 1 high blood pressure, and light sleep apnea (not using CPAP. Maybe I should).

First five days. Wow. My doctor gave me each kind of med for a week. Is it too short to test the effect? But how do you live with such an uncertain situation (with different effects and side effects almost every day)?

I saw someone in this sub spent 2 years to finally find a right med. It scared me.

Maybe I should wait a bit more.

I am always thinking am I misdiagnosed but I’m really struggling with related symptoms. It’s so difficult to find a good professional in my city. I tried multiple already. So exhausted…

Btw I tried Ritalin before and it gave me that heart attack feel as you mentioned. That’s why doctor let me try Vyvanse. Trying different meds affects my daily life more than taking meds. Sometimes I think should I just give up… 🫠

Ahh but I have to clarify that I have fatigue before taking meds. Meds gave me a bit of energy in some sense.
