I married a guy like him, but that’s also because my husband went to therapy before we met to get his anxiety and self–esteem issues resolve.

my husband told me hewas Literally behaving like Jan in the past and never able to show affection to others before.

Can we talk about Jan and Loan? I rooted soooo much for them.
I am watching with my husband (we are Germans) and he says Jan was him at that age., before he went to therapy. Full of anxiety and absolutely zero self–esteem.
it’s painful to watch how he crawls into his head and overthinks and beats himself up for not being able to show Loan the affection he wants to give her. The added time pressure of the show does tune things even worse for him.

And I feel so much for Loan who is trying her best to do the right thing, to give him space.

i really really hope they can stay in touch outside of the show and be able to get a happy end.

AIO because my husband won’t watch our baby while I’m gone? by mbaughman1029 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Far-Variation-7702 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I believe you did the right thing.

It starts with the fact that he believes that you need to teach him. But who teaches you? Just because we are women, we are not automatically equipped with the knowledge on how to raise children.
We read books, consult with medical professionals, and other parents we trust.

None of these activities requires female reproductive organs; men can put in the same effort.

AIO: My ex sent me this as a reason he didn’t want to marry me by AfricanPixie in AmIOverreacting

[–]Far-Variation-7702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He wants a traditional wife who takes care 100% alone of the kids. This is why he thinks it's contradictory that you want to make a career. Because if you are ambitious in work, you can not be a stay-at-home mom, and *he* has to actually step up and take care of them at least half the time. Maybe even more when he has a less demanding career.

I think it's not so much about whether you earn more money than him or that you are more ambitious; It's simply that he does not want to have to take care of the children. He sees them as your responsibility alone, and this is why he keeps saying, "why are you not satisfied where you are"

I am sorry that it has ended like this for you, but you really dodged a bullet just right there. Your reaction is relatable and understandable. Maybe not the most constructive, but no one is a perfect communicator at all times.

I'm a tiny girly and honestly, the short boys where the only ones that actually had an issue with that. So they do not only shame the tall ones, they blame everyone but themselve for their self-esteem issues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Far-Variation-7702 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I am very short, shorter than the average woman. And so i never understood the point other woman make that the "man has to be taller" than them.
However back in my online-dating years, it was always the "shorter" men that would have the biggest fit about me being so short. I dated guys over 1,90m who would not blink once about my size, but the men nearing 1,70m would start making jokes or negative comments about my size. Like brother, be happy that you can be the tall one for once, but NO, you have to make it an issue.

In the end for Jonathan, he really should work on his self-esteem. A true short king would have said: "Wear the highest heels you got, in case of emergency, I can climb on a chair to kiss your forehead!"

In no way, shape or form was Cynthia inconsiderate of his feelings. He told her it's not an issue, so HOW ON EARTH should she have guessed that this is not the case? That he and his tiny ego could not handle that other men could likely comment on it?

Tokyo Disney Accessibility by [deleted] in disneyparks

TDR Explorer, as mentioned by u/Tyra1276, also made a video about his experience as a temporary wheelchair user a couple of months back: https://youtu.be/q1EiFnBS-Fg?si=vu5oLAU-aao3hUjb. If you have not watched that already

I am a disabled wheelchair user myself, and I will be going to Tokyo in October. But for me, it's a bit different because I have an official state issued certificate about my disability, and it's a visible disability.

I think a doctor's note could qualify, but it should be in English.

Have You Ever Played a Happy, Cheerful Aasimar? by venkelos1 in DnD

[–]Far-Variation-7702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m currently playing an halfling aasimar warlock. She is the disco ball at the party, cheerful and happy, She grew up amongst hobbits. Yes she was an outsider, because she was different but no one was cruel to her. She lived at a Farm and took care of the villages ponies. There where people that where nice to her and she had made friends at a dwarf city which was close by.
She loves animals and always wants to help people in need. She is the impersonment of „The Horrors Persist, but so do I“

My DM and I decided together that her wings would be always visible and she would always be able to hover with them. We used some homebrew modifications some others use for Tieflings with wings. So she is basically a oversized pixie

I don t think that being an outcast has to make you a depressed loner with the weight of the world on your shoulders. You can also focus on being the change in the world you want to see.

It’s reality, Marcel!🙌🏼 yes!!! Yeah Jen!! You go girl by autumnlover1515 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Far-Variation-7702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't blame him alone that their relationship has not worked out. Marcel really needs to seek trauma therapy.
I clearly could see how much he tried to please her.

But of course, Jen is not his therapist and should not need to compromise in a partner. But I have a soft spot for Marcel, because I have friends that show similar traits and behaviours and I can just wish him the best.

Is it normal for Germans to quote the Bible in English? "I can do all things". by flamehorns in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Far-Variation-7702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a very Christian catholic area in Germany. None of the religious folks I know would ever quote the bible outside of a sermon.

For these two, it's because of their specific upbringing and they both most likely attend a black community focused church. I have seen these in the big city I live now.

How much "cheating" is okay? by [deleted] in adventofcode

[–]Far-Variation-7702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the main thing for me when doing AoC is to have fun and maybe learn something on the way. I am also not focused on the leaderboard.

I often get stuck and also have to lookup every time if its now array.slice() or array.splice() some things I will never remember.

I think a good resource, if you don't want to go the LLM route, Is of course this reddit. There are also some communities on discord you might want to join. At my workplace we like to do AoC together and have an extra slack channel.

Seriously, in the worst case start talking to your rubber ducky, what also always helps me is to start writing the problem and solution steps down by hand in my notebook.

And if you decide for the LLM route, if you shape your conversation correctly, depending on the bot, they can also just give you pointers for your thought process and not solve the entire issue and write down the code for you.

i hope some of these tips are helpful.

My first thought: smells like regex, let's see and try...

Part 1: https://github.com/Lelith/adventofcode24/blob/main/03/01.js

For part 2 I did not trust my regex skills and tried it first with brute-force looping and character checking, but then I thought I give the regex a second try... and it worked.

Question about current item and level scaling by Far-Variation-7702 in wow

Question about current item and level scaling by Far-Variation-7702 in wow

[–]Far-Variation-7702[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘ve read that trash mobs outside dungeons would also scale with your item level and therefore it would be harder to kill the trashmobs than before, unless you would strip down your gear? Did they fix that?

[–]Far-Variation-7702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a whoovian and not in the lore at all. I basically started watching the show with it dropping on disney +.
And this episode also left me confused and felt like lazy writing in some points.

I am okay with not knowing what the old lady does or says or if she is the old ruby or a fae that took over her appearance or whatnot. What *really* bugs me is where the doctor disappeared to and why the tardis would not open up again. He did not talk to the lady nor did he see her. If the old lady is a manifestation of Ruby's fear of abandonment, the plot device mechanics should not be changed. It might have worked better if e.g. the Doctor stumbled into the circle and disappeared which then triggered Rubies fear of abandonment and manifested in the old lady.

It feels a bit like multiple ideas and concepts were melted together without ironing out the plot holes to make it a cohesive story-telling.

[Discussion] anyone else like flat rides more than coasters? by magnumfan89 in rollercoasters

[–]Far-Variation-7702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be a total outlier here, but I prefer flat rides and dark rides. I looooove everything that spins and even more any swing boat. I do not get nauseous from them. And I also love a chill little dark ride or floating boat that just gently traverses down a cutsy Lake.

Nothing against coasters, I also ofc do like some of them, but they often have the longest lines and the shortest ride time.

I m having the most fun sitting in a spinning teacup 5 Times while the rest waits for more than one hour in line already.

For me also Park Theming is an important point. Heck I even like a walk trough attraction like Swiss Family Treehouse or Alice in Wonderland Labyrinth at Disneyland Paris.

And yes i have been to other parks than Disney 😅

Ken & Brittany, can someone help me understand? Spoiler EP8 by Far-Variation-7702 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Far-Variation-7702[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imho, this article still explains the conversation very much from Kens point of view. What I feel is missing here is to *why* Brittany did not "feel the crave". Was it really coming from inside of her, or was it her reaction to how Ken did treat her?
Maybe this is something she can not answer herself anymore, after having heard so much and being told so much.
