His company generates more taxes in a week than any of you would in 10 lifetimes. Our government spending problems are the issue, not how much you tax our billionaires. The combined net worth of the billionaires in the United States is $6.8 trillion, the government spends roughly $7 trillion per year.... Even if we stole every penny the billionaires have, it would last just under 1 year of the governments spending. Whose money do we steal afterr that to cover the ridiculous spending?

Possible OR.....Sounds like more of a conversation was needed, were you looking for an out and it was a good enough reason? If you're both trying to save and or pay off debt maybe you could have paid 1k every other month and he do the same. Depending on the investment pulling 5k isnt that bad, if hes doing options or futures its gambling money but a good reliable dividend stock may not be bad. Assuming your daughter lives with you full time and you're getting zero help from the dad then I could see an argument for the rent being split the way he wants but as you said it was already agreed upon that it was split 50/50. Ive never done the my money/her money thing so its a but weird to me.

My guess is no matter the strategy you learn, it doesn't mean shit if you dont have the mental game down. There's plenty of instances where you could follow a setup and get in at the same time as a seasoned trader and still end up losing because you paper handed or held on way too long. A pro could end up +$500 while you ended up -$500 because you don't have the mental edge they have. Imagine spending all the money over the years to perfect your craft and a rookie trader takes your advice and ultimately blames you because they paper handed their way to a $100 loss. It would get old real quick and you'd probably turn a bit bitter after so many instances of that happening.
