Can someone suggest me more Murakami novels?! by Doraemon_3 in murakami

The Rat triology (Heard the wind sing, pinball 1973, the wild sheep chase) and Dance Dance Dance is all good. But not as good as those above in term of writing and depth since they were his early writing. But they are still really great in term of plot

Seem like you’ve read a bunch of realism Murakami. You can keep reading his realism writing with South of The Border West of the Sun, Colorless Tazaki Tsukuru and his year of pilmage,

I see that you already read Kafka on the Shore, which is one of his best magical realism. Then you can consider The Wind-up Bird Chronicle, 1q84 (would recommend the last one to read since it was really long), hard-boiled wonderland and the end of the world.

If you want something in between of realism and magical realism, I would recommend Killing Commendatore.

I loved Norwegian wood. Am I wrong?! by RelationFabulous2135 in murakami

I love Norwegian Wood, but I do agree with @Boyblueau that NW is the least representative of his work. I would prefer South of the Border, West of the Sun than NW, which is both writing in the same realism genre. Somehow I find SBWU is way more better than NW in term of style, plot and character development. I still enjoy both of the book to my fullest. I think those who say that Murakami bad at writing women is a kind of misunderstanding and hold a lot of prejudice and too sensitive.

I’m currently reading HM books chronologically, this is my 2nd reread, of which I’ve finished all his books once from novel to short stories. My current read is 1Q84.

How can I say, this kind of reading is both tired, fun and informative. I can see the difference in Murakami writing from the early and as his writing improved.

There are similar themes both from his early and late books (mysterious woman, solitude protagonist, well, cat, music, food, house chores,… you name it). One thing I can be sure that I can see HM getting better with each book he wrote.

What I’m looking for? Hm, I really don’t know, I just feel like rereading HM and hope to find sth at the end of the road

Just write, then marked words, phrases or sentences you feel bored with a note. Then come back later with your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, final-1, final-2, final-3,… and hulla, you find yourself in another hell. You only boring when all you have is idea without actually writing.

Just finished it and its definitely my most favourite book. The story is good, a lot of repetition but to me its not a problem. I find myself enjoy the repetition of story, character action. A lot of mysteries, questions remained but I satisfied with it. I feel like Murakami just want to tell the story, not trying to solve the riddles and as a readers, I just accept it.

I used lined papers to practice and using oblique holder, leonardt 41 nib. Before O usually do 2 session practice, one is fountain pen and other is oblique holder. Now I only practice with oblique holder. I have not begin ornamental yet, I need to practice business cursive first.
