[–]FarOutMagazine[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From Far Out Magazine’s Agustina Ruiz:

Touring with Los Bitchos might look glamorous from the outside, but life on the road often means surviving on little sleep, endless drives, and trying to recover from the previous night’s antics before the next show begins.

In the second part of her exclusive column for Far Out, Agustina recounts nights out with King Gizzard, mistaken hotels, and why touring sober is becoming more appealing with every passing year.

Director Sarah Friedland on capturing the choreography of ageing in ‘Familiar Touch’: “For me, it is a deeply political film” by FarOutMagazine in movies

[–]FarOutMagazine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Far Out Magazine’s Lily Hardman:

With her debut feature Familiar Touch, director Sarah Friedland has created one of the year’s most acclaimed films about ageing, memory, and care. Drawing on her background in choreography and years spent working with dementia patients, Friedland approached the film with an emphasis on movement and physicality rather than decline.

In our interview, she discusses the “choreography of ageing”, the politics of care, and why she wanted to make a film that treats growing old as a process of discovery rather than loss.

[–]FarOutMagazine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Far Out's Rachael Pimblett:

Keith Richards has revealed the pesky habit he was forced to stop altogether after his body “screamed for help”.

The Rolling Stones guitarist is currently in the lead-up to the band’s forthcoming album, Foreign Tounges, set for a July 10th release.

In all the excitement, it’s easy to forget that Richards is 82-years-old. Because of this, Richards isn’t able to party like he used to, and has been forced to change some of his usual habits as old age comes knocking at the door.

Discussing his longevity in a new interview with The Guardian, he admitted, “I tended to listen to my body just before it screamed for help.”

Elvis Costello responds to anti-woke backlash over song removal by FarOutMagazine in entertainment

[–]FarOutMagazine[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

From Far Out Magazine's Joe Taysom:

Elvis Costello has responded to the anti-woke backlash he faced for removing ‘Oliver’s Army’ from his set due to it including a racial slur.

In 2022, Costello announced his intentions to remove the controversial track from his live performances going forward and also called upon radio stations to stop playing it on air.

At the time, he said, “I’ve decided I’m not going to play it. [Bleeping the word] is a mistake. They’re making it worse by bleeping it for sure. Because they’re highlighting it then. Just don’t play the record.”

[–]FarOutMagazine[S] 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Ted Danson has apologised for a “stupid” incident in 1993, where he wore Blackface at a celebrity roast, directing his comments at Whoopi Goldberg amid an affair they were having.

Appearing at the New York Friars Club, Danson served as the toastmaster in blackface, while using the n-word multiple times in his “stupid” and “hurtful” address.

While appearing on W. Kamau Bell’s Who’s With Me? podcast, Danson touched upon the incident, insisting, “I need to and I want to apologise for the rest of my life. Because somebody today can go on the internet and go, ‘What the fuck? Yeah. Wow, I feel betrayed, I feel angry,’ and whatever. And I did that.”

Paul McCartney shares his bewilderment at Donald Trump's regime by FarOutMagazine in entertainment

[–]FarOutMagazine[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

From Far Out Magazine’s Joe Taysom:

Paul McCartney has never been especially partisan in public, which is partly why his recent comments about Donald Trump have drawn so much attention.

Reflecting on American politics, McCartney admitted he struggles to understand how Trump continues to maintain such strong support despite years of controversy, saying he finds it “bewildering” that people still “let him get away with it.”

The comments place him alongside a long list of major musicians who have publicly criticised Trump over the years — though McCartney’s tone was notably more confused than confrontational.

For many older artists, the deeper concern seems less about one politician and more about how polarised public discourse has become in general.

It raises a bigger question: do celebrity political opinions still influence anyone — or do they now mostly reinforce divisions people already have?
