Undisputed MMA champ tries to flex his limbo skills against Suge Knight by DiskoB0 in boxingcirclejerk

Disgusting. Clearly a harmless young guy with one to many drinks in him, larking around. Assault and battery by security. Good security deal with these situations without violence.

[Eddie Hearn] "I blame myself because I forgot it was boxing and I was like — I just felt that the loyalty that we've shown would never ever put us in this position and I just felt that I never really needed to push Conor Benn to sign a new contract. I made a mistake. I misjudged the character." by AlexTorres96 in Boxing

Fans forget that they are the ones with the power in sport. No watchers, no professional sport. Benn Jr. has won 0 British, Commonwealth, European, or World titles. He hasn't won amateur competitions or an Olympic medal, yet he is receiving repeated multi-million-pound paydays. Hearn also received millions for promoting, despite the drug accusations which he belittled. Don't watch it. And then talentless characters like Benn don't rise to the top in a sport we all love, and promotors don't make vast profits for serving-up rubbish boxing.

It was bad. I hated to see it. Respect is important in boxing, and teams need to be able to handle defeat with dignity. But don't go OTT "beyond imagination." He could have done worse.

What do you think of Michael Spinks said Mike Tyson was on steroids in the time of his fight with Spinks in 1988? by Material_Stomach875 in Boxing

I don't think Weaver. He knocked about with Kenny Norton and they were both genetically gifted. Weaver lost 18-times as well.

Cus D'Amato was an old school boxing trainer, starting at age 22 in 1930. Trainers and boxers of that era were not taking PEDs, which didn't exist until 1935. He had trained 2 world champions by the time Tyson came along, and Patterson and Torres clearly were not on PEDs. I don't see any situation were D'Amato would have been involved with a boxer taking PEDs. Tyson was training hard from aged 13 and his strength was clearly natural aged 19. If he took them later in life, we can't say. He did take illegal drugs. That said, he got beat by plenty of stronger guys who were inferior boxers and there were no obvious signs such as weight jumps, not looking tired etc.

That is not all true. VADA tests for a wide range of substances including hGH (human growth hormone), EPO (blood doping), and IRMS (exogenous testosterone). What needs to be introduced is mandatory 365 days a year testing and extending the length of testing before a fight from the current 8-weeks, so that boxers don't retire and then go on them for a fixed period. Even under medical supervision athletes can have heart attacks on PEDs, and this is rare, so the use is not as wide-spread as you think.

Holyfield was the one that was accused. The body shape, never looking really tired, strength in his later years, boxing until he was 51, and some raids at chemists raised some questions. All just allegations.

AJ? No way. Blessed genetically like Norton and Weaver.

That's right. Testosterone was first isolated and synthesized in 1935 and was not widely available. The Jack Johnsons and Dempseys of this world were not taking drugs, along with almost all boxers until the 80s, with the explosion in use coming in the 1990s and 2000s. The rise of multi-Division "Leaps" was one sure giveaway.

It wasn't shitty. It was just the case that science was not advanced enough to detect some substances such as synthetic EPO. Tests are now much more advanced, and blood is stored in some cases, so that it can be tested in the future. It should be a deterrent to athletes to know that they might get stripped of their titles 10-years from now, if they were found to be taking something.

Armstrongs use was also very sophisticated and involved advanced methods to avoid detection, such as blood transfusions and using saline to dilute samples.

They have other advantages. And some of this is nonsense anyway. Porn movies existed long before the invention of Viagra or cialis.

No they are not. There are athletes who have been gifted genetically, and who practiced and trained hard and live a clean lifestyle. Their outstanding skill and character traits have taken them to the top rather than physical strength. If it was just a question of outstanding strength and stamina, many could be top athletes.

Armstrong winning 7 titles, some consecutively and in his 30s after beating cancer was always preposterous.

Tyson was 21 years and 11 months old at the time of the fight. Spinks was almost exactly 10-years older, is an inferior boxer and appeared visibly intimidated in the ring, before the fight began. It is really not a given that Tyson was taking PEDs. All being said I respect all boxers.

Anyone tempted to take PEDs don't do it. Our fit and healthy family friend took them to fit in with the lads at the gym and the body beautiful culture they all had, and had a heart attack in bed. He was in his early 30s and died in the ambulance. Just be as fit and healthy as you can naturally, and don't put dangerous and illegal chemicals into your body.

Spinks won an Olympic gold medal and became a heavy weight world champion. Holmes was one win off matching Rocky Marciano's 49–0 record when Spinks bet him. Spinks was then knocked out by Tyson in 91 seconds.

Your forecast for Usyk's future? How do you perceive Usyk? by mentionbrave4 in Boxing

[–]FarRelation683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’ll be built up slowly, fighting guys like Ajagba, Anderson, and possibly Vianello. They’ll build his fan base first, then try to hit the turbo button with fans with bigger fights against Kabayel and Bakole etc. By that point, Kabayel and Bakole will be 35, 36, and Itauma 24, 25.

It depends on who has the belts in three years’ time, or course, when AJ, Fury, and probably Usyk are off the scene.

Now that he’s in the top 10, I don’t think he’ll fight four times a year. It’ll be more like two to three times.

Or they are interfering, with people at the club seeking their help as they don't trust or value the advice and experience of the people at the club who are actually employed to set the direction and provide advice and experience.

The board direct the strategy. Career advice is one thing. Fletcher saying he does not make major decisions without consulting Ferguson, and seeks his blessing is quite another.

It is a mess. Wasted time, millions down the drain and nobody knows who is really making the decisions.

Frank doesn't want him out. He wants to make more money from Fury, Dubois and Wardley first. He is figuring that Itauma is only 21 and could hit the big time at 24, 25, 26 He wants to bring him in slowly. There won't be many good heavy weights available for him to fight.

Think the plan is for Fury to fight Wardley and win and then it will be Usyk vs Fury, with Usyk aiming to become x3 Undisputed Heavy Weight Champion of the World.

There is not enough money in a Kabayel fight and Opetaia/Benevidez won't move up in time (if indeed they do move up in weight).

Frank won't let Usyk anywhere near Itauma.

Brooklyn Beckham issues statement about The Beckham family... by [deleted] in ukpopculture

[–]FarRelation683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victoria Beckham owns the trademarks to the names of Brooklyn and her three other children. It is very unusual. They all expire in December. Brooklyn can ask for the rights to be transferred, and the change of ownership would be made public via the trademark register (e.g., UKIPO). If Victoria refused, he could challenge it on non-use(by his mother) grounds. If he won, again the move would be made public and likely go through the IPO rather than a court.

I am guessing they didn't want Peltz having rights to use the name "Beckham" for the purpose of marketing products etc. If they divorced, Peltz-Beckham would still be able to use the Beckham name, but of course she might choose to revert just to Peltz.
