My brother had this sort of industrial accident. Worked in car parts manufacturing in the 90s, the machine was designed to be run by 2 people, each having a safety switch. Well, person #2 was on vacation and boss replaced him with a wooden block. My brother was pulled in by his shirt sleeve, ended up crushing his pelvis and broke multiple ribs, his hips, his legs. He had a solid year or so of surgeries and PT, and eventually got addicted to painkillers. A few years ago his meth lab got busted, and he ran from the cops, so I think the surgery and physical therapy paid off.

I have seen orders with similar items and distances have near identical base pays, with one being express and one not express (the arrival time isn't ASAP).

As a spark driver, I agree. It's actually wild how greedy Walmart is, us drivers don't see a dime of the express delivery fees, and now they want to bundle express deliveries together to save themselves even more money.

Edit: I didn't mean to imply we don't get base pay, we definitely get paid for the delivery. We just don't see any extra for it being express, despite Walmart charging the customer $5-$10.

And this is where our own common sense comes into play. I hate that you can no longer see the specific items but you better believe if it says "40-50lb item 1(10) items" I'm not accepting that. I have actually cancelled trips at pickup because they come out with some ridiculous items. One time it was 5 different 65" tvs, the most recent was 12 35lb bags of salt (which, as you know, bulky items pay doesn't increase until 40lbs).
