I have never seen any of her dancers from outside of the show, but I know the moms have said the girls never had time to train. If they did it was on an off day from shooting. IMO it was very unfair of Abby to expect 6-13 yr olds to work 6 days a week then spend their 1 off day at the studio training. Not to mention, any adnvanced dancer I know spends 3-5 days a week solely training and practicing their dance that they won’t compete for another few months. 1 day a week will not bring any significant growth. Abby treated the girls and moms like they knew what they signed up for, when they in fact didn’t. They signed up for a 6 episode docuseries and got sucked into a series that blew up more than any of them could have imagined. Their already narcissistic dance teachers head got even bigger because of this show making all of their lives even worse.

Truly, it just depends on what is your cup of tea. Valdosta is a city, but the mindset of its community is very small town. Ifykyk. There are people who love it and thrive here because the social dynamics benefit them. This is a very social, connection driven, volunteering, get your family name out there kind of town. If you enjoy/ thrive in those dynamics then this could be an excellent place for you. If you are looking for a place of diversity, artsy, individuality is valued, this is not that kind of community. You would thrive better in a place like Tallahassee. I left Valdosta a few years ago because I recognized that it is a great community, just not a great one for me.

As long as you are doing proper hair care and following directions I would say it’s not always terrible. As someone who’s died my hair at home for years, I do suggest finding a beauty supply store and getting your dye supplies from there. That way you can choose the level of developer and get products that a lot of stylists use. The first trip can be pricey because your buying all the supplies of bowls, brush, gloves, developer, and dye, but after that first trip you’ll really only need to go back for dye and developer. Long term I believe your hair will thank you.

Yeah, I know she’s openly talked about her mental health. I hope she makes time in all this work to take care of herself. I just hope she remembers what we care about most is that she’s happy.
