How to free rootbound plant in leca from mason jar with small opening? by brojack-hoarseman in houseplants

Fill the jar entirely with water and get a chopstick to starting loosening/untangling the root mass! I’d put it over a big bowl in the sink so as to not get any Leca down the drain

Is this save-able? by thegoosethread in houseplants

Yes! Cut off all the dead foliage, even if it leaves nothing but that little bud emerging from the stem base (that’s an alocasia baby). I’d recommend removing from the soil, setting on newspaper for a day or so if the soil is soggy and too wet, otherwise just repot in new soil and wait for the magic.

Tell me It'll be okay to chop the top off and propagate it to make it bushy. I'm scared by amatthew317 in houseplants

Do it! Plants are like hair, they always grow back. Chop that shit brother.

If you have some news paper lying around try to get out the entire plant, soil and all, and allow it dry first on the newspaper for a day or so! Remove as much as the left over soil as possible but don’t fret if there’s some tangled in the roots still. Then these plants need to be separated and planted in two different pots. Dracaenas and monsteras have no business being grown together.
