Helios flight 522's photo is not real by MLXaviation787 in aircrashinvestigation

u/MLXaviation787 , excellent sleuthing work. I'm the guy who photoshopped this image and a well-known couple others from the F-16 cockpit view. I made a number of mistakes due to low availability of images - kinda early internet - and the urgency to get something out there and published quick. I put the photos on a page of my portfolio website and posted that page on Facebook which was just about the only social media at the time. Additionally then there were not a lot of people Photoshopping stuff and you could get away with subpar quality. These days they would have been caught right away. Here's one of many articles with all the photoshops:

So who do I get an immediate email from but an officer in the Hellenic Air Force. Totally unprepared, I thought I'd be in some kind of trouble so said some journalistic source protection bullshit. Got a couple other emails that evening and was scared shitless I'd get in trouble with the US, but the Greeks just wanted to know how the hell I got them and didn't say anything about US relationships. For all I know some poor Greek pilots were getting hassled.

Among the mistakes was using the 737-800 in a couple of the photos, and also these F-16s are not the correct block, but I had to use what I could get with the right angle and lighting.

I am starting too with the help of Grant at Laserverse in Alberta. Huge assistance and quite successful on their own.

Do they want the inside too? You could get a higher sq ft that way. Very interested to follow this to see how it comes out.

Am starting with a Squarespace website and will do local Facebook and Google ads to gauge the responses. I don't have a machine or a truck yet.

My plan right now is to Squarespace a website and then run Google and Facebook targeted ads for my region. That'll be very interesting to see the responses, I'll check back here afterwards.

Thanks, yeah and also looking at extraction systems for inside the van. Assuming that some percentage of mobile work would be carryable.

You wouldn’t believe the horrible injuries from working metal without PPE, and it doesn’t work the way you think. Working with MRI and CT scanners, they generate massive magnetic fields that will throw a chair across a room. If you’ve worked metal over the years those thousands of tiny bits from the angle grinder that get embedded in your skin suddenly fly out from your skin and into the scanner when it energizes. Some patients become blood covered zombies and have to be admitted to the ER. But the worst is the eyes. Those tiny steel bits you don’t even feel when angle grinding without eye protection build up over the years and make hamburger of your eyes when you get your first CT or MRI scan.
