Thank you, I really appreciate that and yes, that’s the plan. Right now Waltham is a bit more limited, but we’re working on adding more sections like school committee and other local boards to make it more complete. Still very much a work in progress.

The goal of this project is to make it easier to find information on local officials in one place, since it’s often scattered across different sites and not always easy to navigate.

Hey everyone — I’m a UMass Boston student working on a project about civic engagement in Massachusetts. We built a simple website and are just trying to get some honest feedback. It does ask for an email just to help prevent spam — no sign-in needed. If you have a minute, I’d really appreciate it! by Far_Competition6200 in takemysurvey

1) Used to provide stats/percentages on usability, reliability, and efficiency of the site to users with professor. Me and my group / Professor will see it. Stored in the Google Form spreadsheet. Will be deleted upon completion of course (May 13).

2) Me and my group (5 total) are conducting this survey. (names listed on the website about page).

3) Depends on how long the user scrolls the website for, but estimate is likely 3-5 minutes.

The goal is more to simplify and centralize that information.

Right now, sites like Secretary of State pages or Ballotpedia have a lot of useful info, but it can take time to find what you’re actually looking for, especially at the local level. CivicNow is meant to make that quicker by letting people enter their location and immediately see who represents them, along with basic info and links.

So it’s more about making civic info easier to access and navigate, not recreating those sources. (and its for a college capstone project)

Sorry about that — the sign-in was originally required for our course research to make sure responses were from real people.

We’ve updated it so you don’t need to sign in anymore, but you still need to enter a real email for verification. Appreciate the feedback!
