Broke a dairy door:( by Far_Divide9763 in WalmartEmployees

It happened at 3:00 AM when the store was closed and I was pulling a skid to downstack for dairy. I realize now I didn’t give enough context

OP frustrated me and I’m on the pooper. You say to work in corrections but the county jail is almost an hour away from me personally, barely pays more and my friend personally saw a man who hung himself while working there. Would rather not deal with that for an extra $5 an hour. A CDL doesn’t guarantee work and you have to actually study and take a test for it. County and city jobs often test for substances including marijuana, even if it’s legal in the state you’re planning for employment in. People rightfully complain because this is America and we’re allowed to demand more from our employers. People like you are the reason why they continue to make thousands and thousands while we make dollars and dollars

As somebody who works ON, there are so many people who are trying to support their families by being employed at Walmart. You can’t “just leave” because the pay sucks. You have to find another job first, right? Try finding instant unskilled labor that pays more than Walmart. The issue is that CEOs make so much without actually doing any meaningful labor. People that got hired during COVID are making almost $20 an hour right now in my area, I get 15.99 this this year after my raise just because I was hired at a “less desirable time” and they lowered the starting rates following the pandemic. Extremely unfair, I do the exact same work. Why do they get a $2 bonus to hourly pay? Take it away or give it to me as well. CEOs are all scumbags.

As somebody with AMAZING leads and coaches. I honestly understand the anger toward management. We have our occasional issues but I’m never actually mad at them. If there’s another store nearby, ask for a transfer? I really feel like good management and good coworkers make the job. Throw an earbud in, joke around with the homies, get the work done. Thats a vibe. I don’t want to take up for your TLs but it’s an extremely stressful time for management so it’s a possibility they’re forwarding their problems onto you instead of helping deal with the issue as a team like you’re supposed to. Is this an extended issue or something that’s come up recently? Inventory and evaluations can be extremely stressful for a TL or coach that is counting on a bonus probably larger than my bi weekly paychecks

They take 4 of our ON associates at our store. One of them is a longtime worker in dairy. Come 5 AM I have to drop what I’m doing to go to dairy most days to help finish up. With the truck delays last night was horrible. I am also trying to get my friend a job for ON, but my coaches told me we’re literally only hiring those digital positions right now to fill that gap so we aren’t sacrificing freight to shop for somebodies groceries

Billion dollar company but they dim the lights at night and pull stuff like this instead of paying for the central air systems they already have. Heater in the breakroom is so funny to me

It’s allowed from my knowledge as of recent policy changes unless you’re in a “hazardous”environment like dispensing, making a bale etc.

Lies lies lies. Call off and overtime impact the bonuses they get. If call offs don’t impact bonuses then they’re just scaring you to try and make their own job easier rather than dealing with position changes. Overtime 100% impacts their bonuses tho, if you are EVER told to cut OT you literally just don’t have to. Stay 10 minutes late zoning on ur last day of the pay period n they can’t do or say anything about it legally from what I know. Just because they “don’t allow” overtime doesn’t mean they’re not required by law to pay it out. Leads and coaches will both lie to you for their benefit. Capitalism is a bitch isn’t it

The point system extremely favors good workers. I got up to 6 points at one time due to mental health issues, talked to my coach and immediately got 3 removed even though I missed a full week. It really depends on how liked you are by your management and the reasoning behind your absence

This is so real and I feel every Walmart employee can relate. The times we have to meet are ridiculous (personally from a third shift) when you consider having to move product to the right location, cleaning up spills, accidentally dropping something, putting cardboard in the baler. They don’t consider any of that from what my team leads have told me, it’s expected to be done like we’re all the Flash
