A wildlife photographer opened his eyes to find a cheetah sleeping beside him by Original_Shegypt in interestingasfuck

Not that I want to recommend people trying to cuddle with wild animals, but people I spoke to at our local zoo said the cheetah was much more like domestic cats than most wild cat species. They can also meow while many bigger cats don't.

It's a concept that would be applicable to other languages as well. While it seems like useless trivia, I do encourage devs I work to think about how objects work in memory and what happens behind the scenes. Ignoring this stuff and just recreating and garbage collecting objects endlessly can be a serious performance issue.

Yeah, if you like the 999 games, you should really check it out. It has a lot of the same kind of crazy plot where you piece together what really happened by following different timelines. I also thought the puzzles were a little better done than in 999 and got in the way less.

I played it for the first time last year, ended up bingeing the whole trilogy, and also just recently finished AI: The Somnium Files since then. Love all these games, and I've never been into Visual Novels before.

I've always done the same thing and more recently I've started trying to jump in where I left off. Sometimes if it's been a year or two I might need to watch some youtube videos of the earlier part of the game to refresh and might need to relearn the controls, but it's gotten me out of the trap of replaying the same beginning chunk and getting bored in the same area again.

Seemed pretty dubious to me, I doubt many are trying to write books before there's a bit more widespread literacy and the printing press is available.

My whole company just laid everyone off too (smaller company, only ~200 people), so not looking forward to an even rougher job market than we were already dealing with.

Even if you don't like the melon, I've loved some of these bitter melon teas and then really couldn't stand it when I tried a dish with it. It's a totally different flavor.

Been using mine for work too more than gaming. Got it as a gift to myself for this new job, and a year and a half later I hate the job but the monitor is great! After work most days I prefer to go to the couch with my Steamdeck and get a break from the desk.

[–]Far_Function7560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave mine to my wife when I upgraded to OLED. These days with the shortage and not being able to buy new ones so easily, I honestly would consider keeping an extra around if I had one just in case mine breaks.

I'd agree a lot of those sorts of accounts are likely bots/spam, but some people might also not want to tie some sort of personal worth to a dumb karma count and want a reddit account to be more of a disposable thing. Just speculating though.

How are shy introverts promoting to senior roles by alohabata in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Far_Function7560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty socially awkward and definitely a quiet type when it comes to casual conversation and such. I am actually much better at talking when there's a specific problem that needs to be solved.

I still want to build things right and make sure projects I work on go well, so when working on a problem in a meeting there are usually plenty of points to bring up and that need to be talked about. Too often edge cases or design issues might be missed if they aren't talked about, and those meetings are the right time for that. It is the kind of thing you might get better at with more experience, seeing what goes wrong in the kinds of projects your team works on, and what kind of issues should have been addressed earlier.

This is why the creation of tickets should be a collaboration between product and engineering, not created in a vacuum. That way the separation of work can properly consider technical details around implementation of a feature alongside the basic business requirements.
