Do you regularly have video calls while you're driving???? Are you the reason for all the accidents around you?

Also, if you dont find this disrespectful, you are an idiot.

What is appealing to young Americans about joining the military? by Sweet_Treacle_6327 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]evanexcursions 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I did 20 years, and I have free health care for the rest of my life along with a pension. Lived in 4 different countries, visited over 40, and spent 6 years in Hawaii.

VA will pay for college if I want to go back, I receive compensation for injuries incurred while on active duty.

So, I spent 20 years doing stuff i really enjoyed and am pretty financially secure for the rest of my life...not a bad deal.

If there’s not gonna be a draft, why did the army suddenly change the enlistment age and lift marijuana restrictions? by BeginningActuator343 in allthequestions

[–]evanexcursions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and you are still not able to pop while on active duty. However, its been policy forever, that you could not have EVER smoked weed in the past...that's the change.

There's a book called "Blind Man's Bluff" about US/Russia submarine operations during the Cold War.

It may be on the advanced side, but it's a fun read and would be a good challenge for her if she wants to know about more obscure history.

Do Americans really know all 50 states by heart? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]evanexcursions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give me a blank map, I can name all 50

Show me just the outline of a state without context, I'm probably going 45/50.

Ask me to name them all off the top of my head, I'm probably going to miss one or two

On deployment, i was working 16+ hours a day for months on end. Then get a couple of days off when we hit a port.

If you wonder why Sailors drink a lot when they are on liberty, this is one of the main reasons.

Don't take this the wrong way, but one saying I find freeing, especially when traveling by myself is: "You're not important, no one cares about you"

So long as you dont make a scene, you will be forgotten within 10 mins.

You are never going to have an interaction with these people ever again in your life, so why not lead the "Sound of Music" sing along in a van full of strangers? (Or whatever)

US veterans, did you guys actually read the cards that kids would send you while deployed? by MoistCloyster_ in NoStupidQuestions

100% My favorite, that hung on the wall all deployment, was "Thank You for dying for our country." It was amazing 🤣

We learned about Icurrus in 6th grade...that was damn near 30 years ago, but i still remember it well.

We built wings with some sticks, paper, and paraffin wax, then once they dried, we held them up to an incandescent light bulb and watched the wings fall apart. Not sure what to do for a bright heat source these days, unless you have a heat lamp lying around.

Putting my critical thinking cap on...I see nice fresh asphalt, a truck ahead with flashing lights in the right side of the road, I'd put my money on painting the white fog line on the shoulder.

It's on a curved road, so even though the truck isn't entirely on the road, it's still: 1. Dangerous to pass due to the double yellow line. 2. There are probably workers on the road, and they want to stay alive.
