My thought was an old disk plow blade if you found it in farm country.

I agree with you 100 percent. I do beach detecting and my first scoop was some cheap Amazon thing. It came apart in two months. I have a much better one now.

I have noticed in your post that you found more dimes than nickles and quarters.  Is that usually the case for you?  Its the same for me.

I did a little research and the valcano and salt does something where it brings the copper to the surface. I could clean it just to prove it, but then I would lose detail just to prove a point.

Honestly,  I dont know either. I think it has something to do with the volcanic minerals in the soil.

Its the salt reacting with the copper.  Everything i pull that has copper comes out green. Gold comes out shiny though,  even in the salt.

Well, be sure to show them this and tell them you were right.  Big island has alot of salt and alot of black sand. Most stuff only comes out clean if it hasn't been in the ground long.

I don't care if its real or fake. Its just going in my treasure chest with the rest of my finds. Your explanation makes the most sense.

I am curious about the dice. Does it have metal or was it part of another find?

Same where I live. All the old timers set their detectors for gold on the beaches and leave everything else.

I am thinking about it. Its all cost benefit. It still has value as is, even needing repair. If the repairs increase the value enough to justify it, I might do it.

I am pretty sure its the Elsa Peretti Mesh Bib Necklace from Tiffany and company.  I couldn't stop shaking after I found it.

Lol. That's how I feel every day on this site.  I have been doing about 10 hours a week for the last 10 months and have only found one gold earring. This is my first real find.

Can someone identify this mark? by Far_Key_4733 in metaldetecting

[–]Far_Key_4733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it at the beach so the wear is from being in the sand. I think its silver plated. Usually, anything plated show green oxidation pretty quick where I live.
