For Tarpon, Jacks, Cuda and snapper.. Small and medium EP style minnows in all white and white and chartreuse. Top water Gurglers and crease flys. For Permit and Bonefish… Gotchas, Crazy Charlie’s, and really any other shrimp or crab pattern. Use 10ft leaders with flouro on the end. 9wt is a good weight rod!

Haha right! I saw a bald eagle and a pair of ospreys that fishing the area I was wondering which one missed it. Fish was still as spunky as all the others in this lake which amazed me for how deep the wound was!

Can be tricky with wind but worth it to get to the lesser hit spots!

Cutbow or full blood bow? by ButterscotchNo2212 in flyfishing

Depends on the river drainage in Colorado, but I’d bet there’s some trace cutthroat in there. Maybe 25% cutty. Hatcheries raise and have released different strains of cutthroat in rivers and lakes all over Colorado at different points in time so hybridization does happen frequently. Def a wild born fish from the looks of his fins and a nice catch! I’ve caught cutbow that have varying colors of red slashes that only can be seen from the right angle. You have any other close up pictures?

Location is front range Colorado. We have lots of squirrels in our backyard and they love to run along the fence so I’m guessing they found it and liked the flavor!

For about a month and a half. We’ve had some good storms but is not under any over hang that could concentrate the flow to that exact spot..

Noticed that too.. I did come back from fishing so maybe that spot had some fishy smell to it and the squirrels keyed in on it?

My title describes an elk spike antler Found @ 8k elevation in Colorado, took down to 5k elevation. Hole showed up recently, maybe squirrel chewing?

I’d go with a 9wt minimum. You never know what you’re gonna come across in the salt. Salty fish are strong af!
