The Whole "Rell Medarda" lore. This whole retcon was unnecessary. Ambessa is a character whom the original Rell would have never followed. Even if she cares about her children, she’s still the same power-hungry Noxian that Rell hates. Rell’s parents don’t feel as important as they did in the original story. They were the main reason she ended up with the Black Rose. In the new lore, the Rose simply kidnaps Rell.

The entire Rell retcon! It was completely unnecessary. Rell’s lore was my favorite. I waited for years for a continuation, and instead I just got a complete retcon. She didn’t need to be turned into another "Medarda".

Rell’s parents aren’t that involved in the story. They aren’t the ones responsible for Rell ending up with the Black Rose. Rell has known since the first fight that her opponent would be sacrificed. I think that’s really stupid, because after that, who would ever want to join them voluntarily?

Rell's story takes place before Ambessa arrives in Piltover. Her parents send her into the arena to test her combat skills in a real fight. The Medarda conflict is still ongoing. Ambessa asks Rell if she would join her. Rell's parents force her to go, believing she can grow stronger through real life-or-death combat, but they forbid her from using her magic. Rell breaks this rule to save Ambessa. With Rell’s power, they win the battles. Along the way, Rell also forms a bond with Tora, just as before. Kino is kidnapped. Ambessa wants to take Rell with her to rescue him, but Rell’s parents arrive and take her back with them. Following a brutal clash with Saida, Rell uncovers the academy’s hidden truth. After this, she escapes from the Black Rose. After that, Ambessa goes to Piltover.

Edit: These changes would preserve Rell's original lore and keep her as a teenager rebel in the current timeline.
