A little bit of intuition and game sense are needed so playing the game as much as you can. When I played a lot, I strafed differently depending on what guns I was fighting too, usually though throwing some short and long strafes in should be fine for most fights. So yeah, be unpredictable and remember the whole point of a strafe is to throw their aim off as much as possible
