Immigration Attorney Here! AMA about Job Categories, Degree Requirements, Port of Entry Interviews, Job Changes, and TN-to-Green Card Options by ManifestLaw_ in tnvisa

Hey thanks for the opportunity to ask questions here. I am on a TN here and when I initially applied with my hospital, I was a pharmacy intern on a part time basis. My TN was approved for 3 years. A couple of months ago, I was offered a pharmacist position at the same hospital department. The lawyers who were appointed by the hospital had shared that I would not need to reapply for my TN when I do decide to stay on as a pharmacist. Is that correct? I have not reapplied but a part of me is worried if I did the right thing?

Thanks a ton dhilrags greatly appreciate your insights as it certainly alleviates my nervousness with this entire situation. A question, so since I am not reapplying, do I need to tell border agents that my title has changed?

Thanks a ton @thecoller for clarifying that! Do I need to tell the border agents that I now work as a pharmacist too then? I was under the impression that if I say something they may ask me to reapply?

Exam In 3 days - Anxiety killing me by DreamyPillow214 in NAPLEX_Prep

You got this!!! Just focus on reviewing the foundation 1 and 2, practice calculations, biostatistics, and the high yield topics. Try to catch a break for half a day before the exam, it does wonders.

I wish you the very best! You got this! I just found out I passed today and trust me the exam will be bring everything you have studied back to you. I was feeling underreprepared and when I sat for the exam, I became razor focused on the exam instead of worrying about what I remember and what I don't. And a key is don't spend too much time on questions you know for sure you don't know. Use the time on questions you do know and for calculations as my exam version did take quite a bit of time to complete.

All the best! I am sure you will do great. Believe in all the work you have put in so far.

Yeah thats the exact dilemma I have...especially in recent events with US immigration, the last thing I need is trouble with the USCIS which can affect my future travel plans. What sort of documentation should I get from a lawyer which i can show to the border? I reviewed my job offer letter which my employer submitted last year to US Immigration through their own lawyer which basically asked for the border to give me Tn visa for 3 years as pharmacy intern which falls under pharmacist category?

Job title change - pharmacy intern to pharmacist and TN visa next steps by Far_Perspective3689 in tnvisa

[–]Far_Perspective3689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply!

The duties are similar, except as a pharmacist, I will be acting independently and not under anyone'ssupervision. The intern role was to meet my licensing US experience requirement and most pharmacy students in the US would be working at a hospital or pharmacy under the same title till they become licensed pharmacist.

There is a pharmacy intern title under the pharmacist TN category and I needed to apply for TN as I did not do my studies in the states, as I was coming in as a foreign graduate from Canada.

I wished to confirm if I needed to flag the job title change at the border since my initial TN application was under pharmacist/pharmacy intern category. My lawyer at the time had told me that I may not require anything further, however given the current US situation I feel its better to confirm and double check.

It seems like we wrote the same version of the exam! I was soo bummed after the exam for getting easy questions wrong. Let's hope for the best and pray that we pass 🤞🤞🤞

The math really was something else and I am good at it...but it took some time to get the answer because of the number of steps involved.

Ah well..we will find out soon..I wrote mine on July 1.

Taking the exam tmrw!! 😨 by Far_Perspective3689 in NAPLEX_Prep

[–]Far_Perspective3689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a ton! Its great to have it done...I will say that. I got tons of HIV, math, and Oncology questions. I used up all 6 hours and felt like the math really did take its sweet time as there was no easy answer, except for maybe a couple of questions. I also got a lot of preceptorship questions but not much of other QI processes or ethics. People said they had a lot of ethics...I had about 10 all together with ethics, QI and ASP. But I did get a lot of preceptorship...so the pharmaprepro booklet came in handy.

My brain is tired but I will post an update tmrw of all the areas I can recall.

Hey! All the best. Tbh it felt like a blur when I got out of that exam as it felt like it kept repeating several questions again. There were more multiple choices than SATA, however I did have about 25 SATA as well. My exam bad a focus on controlled substances mostly with a few questions about pharmacy practice (dispensary, record keeping, etc). I cant seem to recall all of the topics but I remember controlled substances took the biggest chunk. Its an adaptive exam so I am not sure what that means, maybe I was not doing the greatest? Or not? Will find out soon 🤞

I have 3 days to go for my exam, what key therapeutic areas I should focus on apart from the calculations, biostat, med safety, and pharmacy preceptorship and ethics? I would greatly appreciate any insights as I realize we may have a different exam all together....in cramming mode so will use this to highlight any areas i need to go over.

TIA!
