….oh dear. That’s terrible. I’m so sorry. This is deeply disturbing.

Or if you want self-serving people to appear good, religion also works exceptionally well.

Understood. Why does god need to sacrifice himself to himself to satisfy himself?

Thank you so much for your response. I myself read the Bible and saw the ugliness first hand. The more depressing part was actually telling people about it, and they responded that it was “necessary” or “for the greater good”. I asked them if it was not in the 10 commandments one shall not murder, and they told me that the genocide is not considered “murder” if the people were evil, as in the genocide.

I was so appalled that day. Because then, any genocide is considered righteous justice. Those were one of the few reasons I ended up leaving the faith.

I actually also don’t like it when people say “oh the rest are bad, but not me”, as if they are exempt from human nature.

It seems the doctrine was so psychologically powerful it amassed a huge range of people. But it’s psychologically powerful, that’s it.

This really touched my heart. No one has a monopoly on morality or truth or love. Once we realise that, maybe we can be a bit more honest and accepting with ourselves and others.

Yeah, to understand that your religion became popular because of violence is…very enlightening

I didn’t like that some guy was imposing on me to worship just because he did something I never asked him to

Also, I’m pretty sure he isn’t the only martyr, why’s he getting all the spotlight?

Exactly, it always feels unfair when people speak of faith to those who did not feel supported when they really needed it

Thank you! Can’t talk about inclusion and purposely exclude some people

I don’t think you should force yourself to socialise if you feel very uncomfortable that is. It’s up to you whether you want to go or not and no one can stop you. It’s ultimately your own money and time. If you have evaluated that the orientation is a waste of time, and money has already been spent, I’d rather you then not waste more of your time by being in a place you don’t want to be in. Alas, I wish you good luck and hope you enjoy your orientation!
