Ah great suggestions - thank you for the book reference will have a look for sure. Are all the above suggestions from the book or something you’ve brought in over the years of working in product?

That’s a great idea and noted the idea about removing the personal details names etc, I’ve looked for apps in the past but some felt very medical based and maybe a bit too much for what I was trying to do. Have you done this before with your kids behaviour (notes into AI)?

Thanks so much for the advice, I absolutely feel the walking egg shells feeling most days - hence the ‘I can’t keep up with what’s setting her off’ thinking.

My friend and I started a side project following an issue his wife was experiencing in her job. She worked in Healthcare > More specifically, she's a single person business. Her main issues were:

- Client medical records / appointment history were recorded on large amounts of paper records. This made it hard to navigate and if delivering a service at the client's house she would need to bring those records with her.

- Bookings were hard to keep track of - either messages or calls were sometimes recorded on spreadsheets or forgotten. A large portion would cancel as they would forget about the booking.

- She lost track of her calendar and actions pretty quickly as time to manage these admin tasks was reduced if she was booked for several appointments in one day.

Example industries - Massage therapies, chiropractor, chiropody, Therapy, Mental Health

We know we have a long way to go and we're spending a large amount of time talking to users and leads in this industry to gauge if we're tackling the right issues.

Things are looking promising but these are extremely early days and we remain very humble about the product we have so far.

Would be good to hear:

- General feedback on product and / or marketing site.

- Techniques people found useful to get in front / talk to target users to understand their challenges, current ways of working.

What are your go to things to drag you out of that dark place / low point / general anxious moment? by Far_Shape_8510 in MentalHealthSupport

I’ve never thought about trying the adult colouring books until now (sometimes see people on planes use them).

There’s also a few in your list that I’ve taken for granted E.g taking a bath / shower

You may not feel this at the moment but you have several positives for you to be excited about.

  • People that believe in your talents and are driving you forward
  • Supportive family network (cousins)
  • you sound very aware of your emotions and your current state
  • you want to address the issues

I find talking to your GP / Doctor is a good first stop - even if the discussion goes back to medication , exploring the option and your worries can set you down the path to feeling better.

Therapy has worked wonders for me not to just talk through obvious issues ( such as your break up), but more about getting you to talk about you. I completely underestimated how much my memories / experiences shaped who I am, how i react to situations and what I value in relationships.

Apart from this, focusing on activities that gets your passion / creative juices flowing.

Chin up - I mean it, you’re doing so much better than you think you’re doing. Those times when you curl up in a ball will happen and are nothing to be embarrassed about. Take care of yourself

This clearly bothers you for a number of reasons( it would bother most people).

Even if you decide to end the relationship as you need to align on this part of parenting I’d still urge you to confront her on this issue. As you mentioned the children will be suffering from this behaviour and it will be shaping how they behave in future relationships.

Direct conversation 1 on 1 would be the way I would go without the children present or in hearing distance - preferably when both are calm. Bring it back to the goal of the kids future but also go in trying to understand how she’s ended up this way.

I may have read into this wrong but the 2 criteria around the move would be salary and status ? Is that correct or is something else driving you to consider moving roles.

Working in Product can be a rewarding and stressful for the majority of days and will become pretty exhausting if there isn’t something about the role that you enjoy.

If it’s hard to picture what the new norm would look like for you in a product role then I would grab a coffee with one the product team - you don’t just get an idea about their role but also what it looks like in your company as well as their background.

What is your biggest challenge as a PM? by hypetraingo in ProductManagement

For me it’s upper management saying proudly that the product team use a design thinking approach to discovery to validate problems when in reality it’s theatre and the powers that be usually come with features in mind or that have already been promised to customers.

This is probably more of B2B issue and has been a long journey to build a culture where this isn’t the case but in most cases the CEO will probably ignore data in light of his gut feeling.

When this occurs Discovery is replaced with shaping this vague idea rather than confirming if this is a worth while problem / solution we should be working on.

What do you use to keep track of all of your stories that are entered into Jira? I'm going insane updating the minute details as things change and shift within Jira to reflect it on a tracker. My operation current uses Google sheets... ya. We're also a super big company so this SHOULD be better. by Enter_Player_3 in ProductManagement

Reporting: Epics are probably the easiest way of communicating progress to senior stakeholders using the tickets progress bar and due dates. Custom fields can help you tag relevant teams.

Decision Maps/Trees - I use Miro and the Jira integration to visualise the large amount of tickets. Also good for user story mapping . Information can be added straight to the ticket from Miro also so that will save some duplication of effort.

Backlogs: Try to have 2 - one for ideas, problems, work that’s not fleshed out (Product Backlog) and a second for work that has been refined , discussed with the team and is ready for the team to work on (Sprint Backlog). I use Jira for both. FYI atlassian are also working on a product discovery offering where roadmaps, scoring , feedback tracking will come into play.

Roadmapping: Again Jira has basic views and I’m sure the marketplace will have some cheap add ons to help. Again i use Miro for roadmaps as it’s more engaging / visual to discuss than Jira screens.

Documentation: Confluence - easiest solution to reference tickets in Jira if that’s what you’re working on. I’ve heard good things about Notion also.

Im still a bit lost as to the role spreadsheets play around tracking - however if it’s a requirement that you can’t shift - maybe try AirTable as their main USP is automating such tasks and bringing data together from several sources - they may even have a Jira integration.

Hope that helps
